Anti-Gun Forces Misplace Blame for Evil Actions

According to a story in the Nashville Ledger, lawyers for a tragedy-stricken family are proving that the proverbial slippery slope regarding “common sense” gun laws is no myth. No one can fault someone for grieving the loss of a loved one. But one can fault someone for their misdirected remedy: infringing on others’ constitutional rights. […]

Neighbors Form Human Sanctuary Chain to Protect Illegal Alien from ICE Agents

Look at what the disrespectful, hyper-confident but completely lacking in self-awareness “Squad” and their socialist ilk are doing to America. Insulting conservatives and Republicans and giving Democratic leadership fits, these selfish women have become the face of the neo-socialist cabal. Part of their mission has been to convince their followers it’s heroic to obstruct law […]

New California Law Will Put its Law Enforcers at Higher Risk

It’s fascinating (not in a good way) what can happen when leftist politicians and community activists, with the help of a complicit mainstream media, create a myth and then endeavor to “fix” the “problem” the myth alleges. The myth: That America’s cops are too quick to use force and are specifically shooting and killing minorities. […]

Kids Hating Cops: The Neo-Left’s Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

Campusreform.org is reporting “a new study conducted by an Arizona State University professor shows that teenagers’ trust in law enforcement has plummeted in the recent years, despite their view of other authority remaining about the same.” I’m sure this delights the police-hating left who will likely point to the study as vindication of their anti-cop […]

Distracted Driving and a Tip for Parents of Teens Learning to Drive

I don’t agree with the basic premise an author offered in an article I recently read, because he’s a big government, President Trump-hating ninny (sorry for getting so graphic). He refers to our president as an “egomaniac” and says, sarcastically, “the current administration will get to tear down a bunch of onerous [traffic] safety regulations, […]

Feds Resume Death Penalty After 15-Year Hiatus

Fox News reported that the Department of Justice (DoJ) has announced it is directing the Federal Bureau of Prisons to “adopt a proposed addendum to the Federal Execution Protocol.” This will make it possible for the U.S. government to resume capital punishment. The federal government will restart carrying out death penalty sentences, commencing in December […]

The Left’s Lawlessness is Changing the Culture

Let’s say your wife, mother, sister, aunt, or… is using a public restroom located at the back of a local grocery store. As she comes out, a woman attacks her. The attacker tries to steal a ring off her finger. The attacker also tries to take the woman’s purse containing the $500 she’d just withdrawn […]

Antifa Proves it is a Terrorist Organization, Official Designation or Not

Andy Ngo is a self-described conservative, pacifist, gay photojournalist. Oh, and he’s also a racial minority—Asian. Since the identity politics-loving left loves labels so much, I wondered why so very few leftist politicians, activists, or media came to Ngo’s defense after Portland Antifa thugs brutalized him and stole his Go-Pro camera. After all, Ngo qualifies […]

One Underappreciated Reason People Become Cops

Early in my career, I was driving to work, when a female caller to a talk radio show made this declaration about law enforcement officers: “You have to be at least a little fascist to be a cop.” She made the comment so matter-of-factly it came across as doubly offensive. What a cynical view. This […]

Never Let a Bad Idea Go to Waste

Everything old is new again. This saying seems appropriate in certain left-coast cities such as Portland and Seattle. (Bad ideas seem to proliferate on the left. You know…being so well-fertilized.) First, an anecdote illustrating what’s old is new. Several years ago, I was driving my patrol car through road construction. The city had torn up […]

Texas Democratic Congresswoman Helps Illegal Immigrants Circumvent Border Laws

Is freshman Democrat Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX) sending staff to Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, a city on the northern Mexico-U.S. border, to help migrants circumvent U.S. immigration law? That’s reportedly what U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources are telling WashingtonExaminer.com reporter Anna Giaritelli. According to Giaritelli, Escobar “is sending staff to Mexico’s northern border town […]

At Least He Brought Donuts

Cops never quit marveling at the you-can’t-make-this-up nature of police work. Here’s an example of why. The King County (WA) Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) recently posted an incident on Facebook, one that confirms this description. Not long ago, around midnight, a male, 26, shattered the KCSO Fairwood Substation’s (mini-precinct) front window. He broke the window because […]

Oregon Governor Sent Troopers Searching for Rogue Republicans

I don’t normally support when political parties bend/break rules or laws. And although the Democrats have become expert at it, they sure don’t like it when someone bends/breaks a rule or law they want enforced. Still, there may be situations where bending/breaking rules may be appropriate. For example, what happens when the majority party gives […]

Jimmy Carter: An Irresponsible Former President

I normally wouldn’t write about politics without it being law-enforcement related. But here at OpsLens, experience matters. So, some time around the late 1990s-early-2000s, the department assigned my squad to augment a protection detail for former President Jimmy Carter. He was in Seattle for a Habitat for Humanity (HFH) event. I’ll never forget it because […]

By Any Means, Fair and Unfair

Lou Gossett Jr.’s character in the movie “An Officer and a Gentleman” has a memorable line. Speaking to his officer candidate recruit class upon starting their training, Gossett tells them, “I will use every means—fair and unfair—to trip you up…” This quote came to mind when I thought about what the Democrats are willing to […]

Mayor Endangers NYC Students and Insults the NYPD—Again

In yet another insult to the dedicated men and women of the NYPD, one that will endanger NYC’s public school students, the New York Daily News is reporting that the city (Comrade Bill de Blasio) will limit circumstances when police can enter New York public schools. The new policy dictates police would not respond to […]

Focus on the Few Criminals with Guns, Not on the Masses of Legal Gun Owners

How can you tell gun control advocates are disingenuous—aside from their lips moving and the unintelligible sounds slithering out of their mouths? By their dogmatic devotion to ineffective “solutions.” For example, even though studies have found “universal background checks” have made no difference in states such as Delaware, Washington, and Colorado where they’ve tried it, […]

Logic Won’t Get You Far with Leftist New York State Government

Making sense applying logic won’t get you far in leftist-run states such as New York. Just ask the state’s Republicans and conservatives. According to Tim Pearce of WashingtonExaminer.com, “County clerks in New York are protesting the state’s new ‘Green Light Bill’ by refusing to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.” I’ve written about various police […]
