In 2012, John Lee Dumas had one big idea and he went all in. At the time, he had recently dropped out of law school and was a commercial real estate agent. Driving to various appointments, he was an avid listener of what was then a relatively new media—podcasts. John wanted to listen to a daily podcast that interviewed successful entrepreneurs. Simple as that. Yet no one was producing free, actionable, inspiring, and consistent content. So this former U.S. Army armor and logistics officer launched Entrepreneur on Fire, referred to as EOFire, and trailblazed a path for aspiring entrepreneurs to receive quality guidance and encouragement. To date, John has interviewed over 2,000 entrepreneurs with a whopping 40 million listens—an indisputable plank holder in the podcasting industry.

Along the way, he pioneered the path to generate revenue from his big idea of podcasting, and then shared that information with his listeners (check out Podcaster’s Paradise). In fact, he has had a variety of spin-off product offerings spring from the EOFire Podcast. These include several free courses, communities, and products (such as Freedom Journal) to serve the needs of his audience, Fire Nation, based on the struggles and questions they’ve come to him with. Nevertheless, John stands out as a best-selling author and award-winning podcaster because his moxie—force of character, determination, and nerve—was rooted in helping others in the pursuit of their big ideas.

EOFire is a frontline leader that should be on your list of most-wanted businesses to support in 2018.
