One of the best parts about the Christmas season is getting to snuggle up on the couch to watch the same movies year after year. Everyone has their favorites, but here is a list of the top Christmas movies out there (in no particular order).

1. Home Alone


Kevin McCallister’s family accidently left him at home while they left for the airport. Two con men plan to rob the McCallister household, but Kevin has other plans for them.

2. It’s a Wonderful Life


George is about to jump from a bridge but ends up rescuing his guardian angel who then shows George what his town would have been like if George had not been there.

3. Love Actually


Love Actually tells the love stories of nine different couples. Stars in the movie include; Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Laura Linney and Martine McCutcheon.

4. Elf


Buddy the Elf goes to New York in search for his biological father. Walter Hobbs is a cynical businessman who reluctantly tries to start a relationship with his elf son.

5. A Christmas Story


Ralphie is desperate for a Red Ryder air rifle for Christmas but everyone is telling him he’ll shot his eye out. Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas day with high hopes for his dream gift.

6. The Nightmare Before Christmas


People just can’t decided if The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie, but it’s still included as one of the best Christmas movies. Jack Skellington plans to put Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus.

7. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation


Clark Griswold plans the perfect family Christmas…until his family unexpectedly shows up and things begin to quickly go awry.

8. How the Grinch Stole Christmas


The Grinch and his dog Max are on a mission to ruin Christmas for the town of Whoville. All is going as planned until the Grinch runs into Cindy Lou Who.

9. A Charlie Brown Christmas


Charlie Brown has the blues so Lucy suggests he directs the Christmas play. The real meaning of Christmas works its magic after everyone makes fun of Charlie’s tree.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a holiday staple. Rudolph is the underdog reindeer with adolescent antlers and a glowing red nose who ends up saving Christmas and helping guide Santa’s sleigh.

13. Frosty the Snowman


A magic top hat gives life to a snowman named Frosty. That is…until the magician, Professor Hinkle, wants his hat back and the temperatures start to rise. Kids and Frosty try to escape the warmer weather and Professor Hinkle.

14. Jack Frost


Charlie plays a song on his father’s, Jack Frost, harmonica and Frost is magically brought back to life. Charlie and Jack struggle to make up for lost time since Jack’s tragic death.

15. Christmas with the Kranks


The Krank’s decide to ditch their normal Christmas traditions and take a cruise just the two of them. Their neighbors are not happy about the Kranks not participating in the neighborhood traditions. The Kranks soon become social outcasts in their town because of their lack of Christmas spirit.

16. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York


Kevin mistakenly boards a different plane than his family members and ends up lost and alone in New York. Kevin is on a mission to stop a couple of bandits from robbing a toy store.

17. The Santa Clause


Scott has a lot of work to do when he accidentally kills a man in a Santa suit and is expected to take Santa’s place on Christmas Eve. Scott starts gaining a lot of weight and grows a big, white beard when he realizes he doesn’t have much time to prepare for the big night.

A Christmas Carol is a Christmas classic that people love to revisit every year. Ebenezer Scrooge meets the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.

19. Die Hard


Yes, Die Hard is a Christmas movie. A New York City policeman is stuck in a hostage situation and realizes he is the only one who can save himself and the other hostages.
