Children at the Border: How the Left are Engaging in False Narratives to Destroy President Trump

By: - June 25, 2018

In case you haven’t heard, the left and their complicit media are fanning the flames of hysteria over “children being separated from their families” at the border. What they fail to mention is the fact that these are families entering the United States illegally…and they are simply misrepresenting the facts and truth in their continued effort to destroy the Trump presidency.

Any of you who have been following me for any length of time know that I am a huge opponent of illegal immigration. It is a national security threat, and Trump should be applauded for his efforts to control and fix the clear and present danger to our sovereignty.

But instead we have a biased media and an extreme left whose sole objective is to destroy the Trump presidency and advocate breaching our borders. So, let’s talk facts, because the media have abandoned any pretense of objectivity, and there is simply little journalistic integrity. By doing so, you will clearly see how the left and the complicit media are twisting the truth in order to generate a false narrative to create an issue prior to the November elections.

First of all, this separation of children at the borders is nothing new. In fact, it was started under the Obama administration. A study released this week by the MRC’s News Analysis Division found that while the media are happily attacking President Trump and Border Patrol agents for enforcing immigration laws, they were less vocal about their deeply held principles when the culprit was Barack Obama.

Pull up any material pertinent to our nation’s immigration statutes; take note of the repetition of key words such as “lawful” and “legal” in America’s immigration laws. Also, heed the variety of available options afforded to immigrants (and their children) who seek entry by legal means.

According to the MRC and NewsBusters: “Over the last seven days (June 13 through June 19), the networks have unleashed a deluge of reports featuring over-the-top grandstanding and virtue signaling totally 258 minutes, or more than four hours.”

But by direct comparison, the complicit media barely mentioned the Obama administration’s role in this policy. Again, according to NewsBusters, “Networks devoted just 6 minutes and 29 seconds (barely 3 percent of the coverage) to discussion of Obama’s detaining of children.”

But of course, you know that bias and yellow journalism is par for the course.

Please do not get me wrong. The situation at the border is serious and also a highly sensitive situation. Of course, when children are involved it is always a hypersensitive situation. We must look at the situation logically and not let ourselves be driven by our emotions. Yet that is exactly what the media wants you to do to “manufacture consent.” So please, let’s deal in facts and not the drummed-up hysteria of the left.

First of all, you have to realize that there has been a fundamental change at our borders. In the past, the convention was that the majority of illegal immigrants were men from Mexico. But over the last decade that has changed. The flow has shifted to Central and South America via Mexico, and the new majority of immigrants are women, children, and other types of familial units. Which has of course thrust the existing law (that has been previously enforced) into the limelight.

Here is the key point, folks. The Trump administration is simply enforcing the law as written. Further, the law is written and designed to protect the children. Separation only occurs when the investigating officials discover that the adult with the child is or might be falsely claiming to be the child’s parent, or is in fact a threat to the child (ie.: abuse, sex trade, etc.)

Let me repeat that: we assume custodial responsibility for the child when the child may be in danger. Don’t we do exactly the same thing here with Child Protective Services and domestic allegations of child endangerment or abuse? The hypocrisy here is unreal.

The problem is only a problem because the press is making it a problem. The fact of the matter is that the criminal child sex rings operating around the world are a major issue and the United States open borders have been a main conduit of delivery. Just read my OpsLens articles, one regarding Child Protective Services and another pertaining to President Trump withdrawing funding from the United Nations.

The problem is that, in the past, we have simply given a free pass to any adult that was accompanying a minor if they were part of a family unit. However, the new policy by Trump is to prosecute all adults…no more free passes. And thus, the dilemma. You see, entering the country illegally is a misdemeanor. Re-entering the county illegally is a felony and Trump is enforcing the law…something Obama was unwilling to do.

So imagine the corollary here. When the police respond to a domestic violence situation and discover probable cause to arrest both parents, do they not contact CPS to take the children into protective custody? Well, it works the same way at the border. When the Homeland Security agents take an immigrant into custody for illegal entry, the child is taken into the custody by HHS (Health & Human Services.) They provide the care for the children at temporary shelters very similar to the way CPS shelters youngsters.

Normally the parents or legal guardians of the child are processed pretty quickly and they are reunited accordingly when circumstances permit. However, where things get tricky—and the illegals know this because they are taught by “volunteer lawyers” at the border—is when they claim asylum. In fact, so many people are claiming asylum that our system is overloaded and cannot handle the number of cases currently on the docket.

April 2018: “A member of the Central American migrant caravan, holding a child, looks through the border wall toward a group of people gathered on the U.S. side, as he stands on the beach where the border wall ends in the ocean, in Tijuana, Mexico, Sunday, April 29, 2018. U.S. immigration lawyers are telling Central Americans in a caravan of asylum-seekers that traveled through Mexico to the border with San Diego that they face possible separation from their children and detention for many months. They say they want to prepare them for the worst possible outcome.”(Credit: Facebook/AP Images)

This is all happening because of the “Flores Consent Decree” from 1997. In short, the decree states that unaccompanied minors can only be held for 20 days. But to complicate matters even further, a ruling by the Ninth Judicial Circuit extended this limit to cover children that come over as part of a “family unit.” Meaning, that even if we wanted to hold a family unit together…we can’t. By law, we have to release the child in 20 days. Meanwhile the “felony” parent remains in custody.

Our systems are simply overloaded. We can’t process this many people with a 20-day time clock. Time always runs out before an asylum claim can be settled. Heck, the illegal is allowed 10 days just to find an attorney. That is fully half of the allotted time we can hold the child.

So now we have to make a choice under the constraints of the law. We either release the parent and child together… with absolutely no way of guaranteeing the adult will show up for his/her hearing and remain here illegally, or we hold the adult and release the child to responsible adults (usually existing family members here in the States).

Isn’t this the way we do things with CPS and foster care? Do you see the comparison? And yet we see no public outcry form the left about our foster care and CPS system.

The other issue not being discussed is the fact that bum-rushing the border and then claiming asylum is not the means or the correct process for asylum seekers. You need to seek asylum at our consulates in the first country you get to that is safe and will allow you to do so. Meaning, when you leave Honduras and arrive in Mexico, you need to go to the American consulate in Mexico and ask for asylum. Not try to cross the border illegaly. But that is not happening, thanks to the misinformation and the outright “coaching and training” of illegals trying to enter our country.

In fact, according to The New York Times: Migrants have admitted they brought their children not only to remove them from danger in such places as Central America and Africa, but because they believed it would cause the authorities to release them from custody sooner.

Others have admitted to posing falsely with children who are not their own, and Border Patrol officials say that such instances of fraud are increasing.

According to azcentral.com, it is “common to have parents entrust their children to a smuggler as a favor or for profit.”

If someone is determined to come here illegally, the decent and safest thing would be to leave the child at home with a relative and send money back home. Because we favor family units over single adults, we are creating an incentive to do the opposite and use children to cut deals with smugglers [emphasis added].

The bottom line here is that it is not Trump. It is the system of laws as they exist today. It is Congress who needs to fix this. Because, unlike Obama, Trump will not violate the law or the constitution for political gain.

We are a free and fair country. We are also, based on a multitude of factors, one of the most (if not the most) compassionate country in the world. We are inclusive and everyone has opportunity. Why do you think so many people want to come here? But for the biased, complicit media and corrupt politicians to use this tense and very sensitive situation for political gain in order to push the leftist agenda, manipulate the public, drum up hysteria, and weaken our borders is absolutely abhorrent to any decent American.
