Hey, Mueller…Did You Overlook Something?

Vladimir Putin and the Russians collaborated with Donald J. Trump in his successful 2016 election bid for the U.S. presidency. Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team have spent two years and thirty million taxpayer dollars to prove that. After springing perjury traps on anybody associated with the Trump campaign in anticipation of a plate full of spilled beans, they are not there yet.

Could it be that they are looking in the wrong place?

Item: A July 2016 story from Politico, “Why Putin hates Hillary: Behind the allegations of a Russian hack of the DNC is the Kremlin leader’s fury at Clinton for challenging the fairness of Russian elections.”

Background: Putin succeeded Boris Yeltsin to the presidency of Russia in 2000 and served two terms in accordance with the Russian constitution. In 2008, he took the prime minister’s job under his successor, President Dimitri Medvedev, and came back as a presidential candidate in 2012. In his 2000 campaign, Putin promised an improved economy which never materialized, and a lot of people expressed dissatisfaction with his performance as the 2012 campaign got underway.

The Rest of the Story: In the Politico piece, Putin blames then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the organization of groups protesting his candidacy. It also carries this paragraph containing quoted material: “’He was very upset [with Clinton] and continued to be for the rest of the time that I was in government,’ said Michael McFaul, who served as the top Russia official in Obama’s national security council from 2009 to December 2011 and then was U.S. ambassador to Moscow until early 2014. ‘One could speculate that this is his moment for payback.’”

In a Daily Caller article, Clinton’s predecessor at State, Condeleezza Rice said that Hillary’s criticism of the Russian election angered Putin and that he is an “eye for an eye” kind of guy.

“The New Tsar,” a Putin biography by Steven Lee Myers discloses, “Three days after the vote [for parliament], speaking to organizers of his coming presidential campaign, he blamed the on-going protests on Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who had criticized the conduct of the election. ‘She set the tone for some actors in our country and gave them a signal’, he said. ‘They heard the signal and with the support of the State Department began active work.’ Even his use of the phrase ‘active work’ – a term he had learned in the KGB – underscored his belief that the protests were neither indigenous nor spontaneous, but rather an intelligence operation.”

Inspector Clouseau?

The Robert Mueller team’s failure to consider the Clinton motive for Russia’s 2016 U.S. election activity can only be intentional, given the abundance of readily accessible sources reporting Putin’s anger as the motivating force.
Media characterizing Russia’s “interference” as a dastardly effort which honorable government’s would never stoop to come off as highly hypocritical in light of the fact that we did it first.

Orwellian

Selective reconstruction of events by the Mueller group bears an eerie similarity to the purpose of the “Ministry of Truth,” or Minitrue in newspeak, as described in Orwell’s book “1984.” The main character, Winston Smith works at Minitrue and is tasked with altering historical records to be consistent with Big Brother’s latest pronouncements.
Limiting the “news” to only what “they” want you to know has reached a new level when someone like Mueller is doing their bidding using selective searches. Who are “they”? During Obama, the top one-percent prospered as never before. And with much of their wealth concentrated in Silicon Valley, how difficult would it be for them to expunge all records having to do with Putin’s hate for Hillary?

Slanting the Mueller probe in this direction gives Democrats a two-for since results will almost certainly be part of impeachment efforts.
