“Need to Impeach,” a campaign set up specifically to push for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, is planning to run a minute-long ad on the Fox & Friends show on Friday and Monday. The campaign is hoping to draw the attention of President Trump and the Republican Party. The ad will only be run in Washington D.C.
The ad is apparently named “Committing Crimes” and will feature billionaire Tom Steyer, who founded and provided the initial funding for “Need to Impeach.” In the ad, Steyer will reportedly argue:
“Right now, Donald Trump is committing crimes in the open. He’s sided with dictators against the United States. And made money from wealthy, foreign interests trying to influence Trump administration decisions.”
Steyer is perhaps most well-known for his climate-change advocacy. Still, he’s taking an increasing interest in President Trump and his alleged involvement with Russia. Steyer claims that the Mueller Report did not exonerate President Trump. Far from it, Steyer argues the report identified “multiple instances of obstruction of justice.”
Wrapping up the ad, Steyer claims:
“America will move forward as soon as leaders stop acting on their own interests, start leveling with voters—and do what’s right.”
Need to Impeach spent $700,000 to run the ad, so while the content may go against Fox’s general conservative lean, they likely appreciate the money. Of course, one might wonder what good the ad will do. Most people in DC, if not across the country, have already made up their mind on President Trump. A lone ad might annoy the president but it’s unlikely to enact any change.
