Chick-Fil-A Banned from Campus After LGBT Protests

Chick-Fil-A is at the center of controversy again with the gay community…

A university in New York has declined a proposal to open a Chick-Fil-A in a cafe on campus. Student groups at Fordham University were consulted prior to responding to the proposal, and many took issue with the owners of Chick-Fil-A because of their beliefs regarding same-sex marriages. One of the student groups that was consulted was the Rainbow Alliance because of the same-sex marriage controversy that has been associated with Chick-Fil-A. Naturally, the group wasn’t in agreement with the proposal. Other students took issue with the menu and how there are certain diets that Chick-Fil-A doesn’t accommodate.

However, instead of celebrating a small victory on the social justice warrior front, the Rainbow Alliance proceeded to complain and find ways to discredit the fact that the college consulted with students before acting on the proposal.  The co-president of the group gave an interview to the student paper where she said, “This is something that I don’t want to congratulate Fordham for.” Another student expressed similar cynical thinking, stating that it’s possible the university included “queer” voices in order to placate them.

“It’s going to be a rough road for these college students once they graduate and realize they will be faced with horrible situations (such as the sight of a Chick-Fil-A every now and then).”

The Rainbow Alliance doesn’t seem to be aware that they aren’t the only student group consulted about the proposal. Of course, they made it all about their particular cause. This is one of many examples of how those who believe something other than what the masses say they should believe end up being attacked on a large scale. They end up being accused of everything from bigotry to human rights violations. Being triggered by a fast food chain goes to show how small-minded and ready to pounce many social justice warriors are.

Having never been personally victimized by Chick-Fil-A, I can honestly say that I enjoy their waffle fries and have never been asked about my sexual orientation before I placed an order. In fact, nothing about Chick-Fil-A establishments screams “gay bashing.” There aren’t political posters or anti-gay slogans on display. In fact, the entire chain is closed on Sundays in order to allow employees to attend church. The owners have never masked their Christian beliefs and have practiced their constitutional rights just like everyone else.

It’s going to be a rough road for these college students once they graduate and realize they will be faced with horrible situations (such as the sight of a Chick-Fil-A every now and then). How are they going to learn how to cope with such triggers when tantrums don’t work very well in the real world? Another thing I find incredibly strange about this story is the fact that Fordham University is a private Catholic college. I guess I just don’t see the point in trying to push a same-sex agenda on a Catholic campus and expecting the outcome to be favorable. I mean, more power to them, but I don’t think it’s very productive trying to push beliefs on Christian institutions.
