Congressional Democrats Ignore Their Own Statutes Again, Demand DOJ Break the Law

I can’t emphasize this enough because it’s getting worse: Democrats continue their swan dive into the lawless, political abyss. As a retired cop, this offends me; as an American, the Dems’ continual mocking of the rule of law makes me sick.

Congressional Dems, as with ignoring laws against illegal immigration, against infanticide, and for gun rights, are once again ignoring laws they don’t like. This time they’re being led by House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) who is demanding Attorney General Bill Barr release an unredacted Mueller Report (in case you forgot, on Russian collusion), which Nadler knows would be illegal for AG Barr to do.

For years, the Dems have opposed the DOJ releasing unredacted (and even redacted) documents Republicans have requested. The Dems have said it’s out of an ostensible concern about releasing confidential information. Especially information that could expose Intel officers, innocent persons, grand jury material, and intelligence gathering practices. Their obvious concern, however, is what those docs might divulge about President Obama, Secretary Clinton, and the multitude of other Democrats suspected in myriad Clinton/Obama administration scandals.

So, what happened to this commitment to Intel propriety in the interest of national security? Politics happened. It now suits the Democrats not only to grandstand for the DOJ release of an unredacted Mueller Report and its underlying investigative documents, but also to subpoena those documents.

Every single Democrat demanding these unredacted DOJ docs knows if Barr acceded to their demand, he would be breaking the law. They know Barr is constricted by laws restricting the release of materials not vetted for national security. They are aware, but they don’t care. They have politics to do, damn it! They have a coup to complete.

The Dems have no problem being disingenuous to the American people, inferring by omission the law allows Barr to release unredacted docs, or outright lying to them about Barr’s legal responsibilities.

Nadler’s silent coup and Resistance accomplice, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), is also demanding something with which he knows Barr cannot, by law, comply. Is this good hardball politics? Maybe. But is this good for America? Not in any way I can see. The rule of law suffers when in the hands of neo-Democrats.

Think about this: Nadler and Schiff demand the DOJ release the Mueller Report. But the Republicans also support the DOJ releasing the report to the public. So, the Dems demand Barr release the Mueller report—unredacted—and also release—unredacted—all underlying investigative docs, and they imposed an unrealistic timeframe as well. Then they ignore that if Barr were to comply with the request, he’d be breaking the law. Then Nadler and Schiff would likely investigate Barr for releasing unredacted, confidential information. Nifty trick, eh?

Still this Nadler/Dem tactic has its risks. It requires that Dems underestimate the American voter—again. This scheme depends on people being too stupid to understand that the law prevents Barr from complying with Nadler’s subpoena. It would be illegal for the DOJ to release the Mueller Report, or any significant investigative report, unredacted. Either that, or the American people must consciously disregard that the law (Nadler is pretending doesn’t exist) does not allow Barr to release the Mueller Report unvetted and unredacted.

Having a choice between Rep. Nadler, toxic Congressional Trump-haters, and the neo-leftist coup co-conspirators or the American people, I’ll take the American people every time.
