Dan Rather to Media: Don’t Call Trump ‘Presidential’ After Syria Strike

By Sarah Westwood, Washington Examiner:

Dan Rather takes offense to people calling President Trump ‘presidential’…

Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather criticized the media Friday evening for describing President Trump as “presidential” after Trump launched a missile strike against a Syrian air base.

“The role of the press is to ask hard questions. There is ample evidence that this Administration needs to face deep scrutiny,” Rather wrote in a Facebook post. “The lies we have heard, the chaos in governance, and the looming questions about ties with Russia — itself a major player in Syria — demand that the press treat this latest action with healthy skepticism.”

Rather has been a critic of the Trump administration, frequently criticizing the president on social media. He recently called allegations that former Obama administration national security adviser Susan Rice “unmasked” Trump associates in surveillance reports “noise and dust” designed to “distract” from unsubstantiated claims that Trump associates colluded with Russian operatives to influence the election.
