Dem Double Standards on Shootings Tops Monday Briefing

By: - August 5, 2019

As you stare at your coffee and a computer screen filled with documents you don’t want to open yet, because it’ll mean you’ve officially started work, let us give you a way to goof off and postpone the inevitable for a little bit longer.

This is Monday Briefing:

  • As Dems try to blame the president and his alleged “hateful rhetoric” for the mass shootings, it brings to mind the question: What about their rhetoric? They regularly demean and demonize men, whites, capitalists, Christians, the free market, the GOP, conservatives, Israel, heterosexuals, at-home moms, the military, law enforcement officers, the list is endless. They consistently bash anyone connected to traditional American values or those who defend this country here and abroad. Their hate is just as corrosive as that of any Kluxer or mass shooter. But it is excused by a popular culture and intelligentsia-driven double standard that shares that hate. Saner voices are drowned out by it. This does not bode well for the Republic and may bring forth a national tipping point faster than most desire.
  • Dems calling for further gun control in light of these tragic mass shootings conveniently ignore the fact that the worst gun violence in the country takes place in cities with the most stringent gun control laws. It’s like a doctor prescribing bleeding a patient with leeches to treat a terminal malady. Been there, done that, it doesn’t work.
  • And we’ll hear the inevitable classification of supposedly scary-looking rifles as “assault weapons” by people who have never fired a gun. Oh joy.
  • It is more instructive to look at the El Paso shooter’s obsession with video games than it is at his political ideology. Have we raised a generation so addled by virtual reality that disturbed young men feel mass murder is just another click on a game controller? Does their obsessive comfort with mirages on a screen eclipse their ability to relate to other humans?
  • Guys, c’mon. Cut it out. The shooters were crazy evil individuals out to kill innocents as part of a death fetish, not part of a deep state political conspiracy. Let’s not be as loony as the left. Rational conservatives should know better.
  • One’s heart naturally goes to the victims of the shootings, and in weaker moments some may even be tempted to drink the gun control Kool-Aid. However, the only type of gun control that would have saved lives in all three incidents would have been an armed decent person with good aim.
  • Watch now for politicians and government departments to release news that reflects badly on themselves. It’s an old political trick to take advantage of natural and human disasters by during such admitting to your worst debacles and hoping the bigger news drowns out your bad news.
  • Beto O’Rourke and Pete Buttigieg immediately blamed the president for the shootings in an attempt to jump- start their flagging campaigns. It only made them look desperate and pathetic. Theirs was a craven despicable act by despicable men. The press, of course, followed their lead with Trump-bashing and gratuitously gory coverage. If it bleeds, it leads.
  • Nikki Haley slagged the president regarding a sarcastic tweet he made referencing a burglary at the home of Elijah Cummings. It struck many as Haley possibly positioning herself to pick up the pieces of the GOP if Trump loses in 2020. She should remember the populist GOP base has a long memory and a cheap shot now may not go well later for the former governor. This was an own goal for the usually savvy Haley.
  • Both The New York Times and Washington Post hit the Dems for consorting with Al Sharpton. Sharpton is a race huckster and a fraud. So, bully for them. But Bernie Sanders has long championed the goals and ideology of the USSR, a communist dictatorship that posed an existential threat to the United States for decades. Though apparently, that’s okay.
  • The Brexit Party in the UK was a spoiler in a recent parliamentary race that the Conservatives might have won if the Brexit Party would have pulled out. This will happen again. Now that a strong Brexiteer is in 10 Downing, Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage must ask himself if he is committed to Brexit or merely his own ego.
  • And finally, the Democratic Socialists of America came to Georgia this last weekend for a convention only to see it fall into farce. Well into the proceedings one comrade complained of “sensory overload” from “guys” whispering in the event hall. This prompted another Bolshie to grab the mic and frantically object to the term “guys” as non-gender neutral. This motivated the crowd, not wanting to upset the hearing sensitive, to use jazz hands instead of applause to show approval of the speaker. That move triggered “heckling and hissing” from other audience members. That caused certain audience members to question the socialist credentials of the hecklers. Then before anyone could stop them, the assembled quarterwits commenced to paw and slap at each other like furious third graders. And so on and on in a classic red victimfest/wuss brawl. And these are the people who want to run the economy and the hospitals. Have a nice week.
