Dems to Constitution: Drop Dead!

Our socialist pals, currently busy deciding which one of them will go like a lamb to slaughter in November of 2020, have come up with yet another way to show their disgust at the U.S. Constitution.

Not content with trying to do away with freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, the sanctity of an election result, and the Tenth Amendment, they now take aim at the judiciary branch of government as more than one of their national leaders is seriously talking of trying to pack the U.S. Supreme Court.

By pack (also once tried by FDR) I mean add judges to the current nine as prescribed by law so they can get a better result out of the constitutional reviews of the SCOTUS. They worry that if the president gets another pick the high court will be lost to them for the foreseeable future. Notwithstanding the strange recent journey to the left of Justice Roberts, they may have a point.

But it’s one that, when they owned the court for much of the latter part of the 20th century showcased by decisions like Roe, they didn’t mention a heck of a lot. They were content then to let their own unelected lawyers in dresses decide the fate of the country. But when it’s our unelected lawyers in dresses who may have that power, well, that just can’t happen.

What Mr. Holder et al. have proposed on this matter probably won’t get far today or anytime soon. The Senate would balk, the president would veto, and even the high court itself may not take too kindly to being tampered with by mere mortals.

However, the very public support given the measure by some Dems highlights once again that the entire Constitution, the Bill of Rights, a free market, in fact any bedrock freedom this nation enjoys is not safe from the insatiable Dem hunger for one morsel: Power.
