“Both of the candidates support stricter gun laws and oppose constitutional carry.”
Whoever said you can’t buy elections never bothered to tell Everytown for Gun Safety. You would think that they would have learned from past attempts that you can spend millions on trying to get someone elected just to see it go down the tubes. It would appear that they have not yet learned this lesson.
On Thursday, the Everytown for Gun Safety Fund announced that they would be spending a million dollars as part of an “initial investment” in an attempt to get Democrats elected in Virginia in November. The fund is donating $450,000 dollars directly to Democrat Ralph Northam, and spending an additional $250,000 on mailers for him. They are also spending $300,000 trying to get Democrat Attorney General Mark Herring re-elected.
In their statement about the funding, Brynne Craig of Everytown went on to say that they were making the donations “because Ralph Northam and Mark Herring have been forceful champions for gun violence prevention in Virginia, while their opponents subscribe to a dangerous ‘guns everywhere’ agenda.”
Both of the candidates support stricter gun laws and oppose constitutional carry. In fact, Northam supports an “assault weapons ban,” limiting the number of firearms anyone may buy to one a month, and expanding background checks.
This is all done even though Virginia already has a Democratic Governor which you would think would be enough. But Governor Terry McAuliffe became a pariah to the anti-gun movement when he signed a law passed by Virginia legislators that expanded the rights of licensed concealed carriers, in return for more restrictions on firearms by domestic abusers and voluntary background checks at gun shows.
What wins elections is standing up for the rights of the people and our Constitution
You would think that Everytown, which is backed by Michael Bloomberg’s money and the like funded Moms Demand Action, would have learned from their past efforts that have failed. The group has been losing election after election to the Republican ticket.
What Everytown and Mom’s Demand Action fail to see is the writing on the wall. People are tired of having their rights stripped away, tired of being told that our constitutional rights are up for negotiation. I hope that Everytown and Mom’s Demand Action spend all this time and money and effort in Virginia and come election time, are handed another sound defeat.
To the patriots in Virginia that will be working to get the rights of the people expanded and back to where they should have been all along, money does not always win elections, just look at the recent presidential election as a good example.
What wins elections is standing up for the rights of the people and our Constitution.
