If we allow people to break our laws and come into the United States illegally and do nothing about it, we are eventually a doomed society.

Because of my background, I understand the word ‘illegal’ very well. Simply put, it means something that is against the law. Pretty easy for anyone to understand—or at least one would think. But in listening to the media and those rioting (they don’t just protest anymore), you would think that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and law enforcement are going around and taking law-abiding United States citizens into custody and deporting them. But when you try to point out the facts to the media or those against illegal alien deportation, they do not want to hear a thing about ‘legal,’ or ‘lawful,’ or any of the other synonyms that indicate following the rules. They don’t care that these people being arrested and deported are breaking our laws. They don’t care that these same people overwhelmingly have criminal backgrounds (why do you think most have come into the country illegally to begin with?) and did not follow our laws to get into the country.
If we allow people to break our laws and come into the United States illegally and do nothing about it, we are eventually a doomed society. For the simple sake of being able to help keep the United States safe, the government should have some control over who does and does not come in. Think about what happens when someone comes into the United States illegally and what that does to our country. While some illegal immigrants pay certain taxes and other fees as if they were residents, there is a much larger portion that does not. So, who foots the bill for these individuals? You and I do through our taxes.
What about something as simple as driving a car? If an illegal alien is driving and they get in an accident, who pays for the damage and injuries? You and me. There are many things like this that do not make it into the news; it is estimated that illegal immigrants cost the taxpayers of the United States between 99 and 113 billion dollars annually. How can anyone deny that having someone enter the country illegally is a bad thing, both as a rule of law and financially?
Then there is, of course, the possibility of a terrorist using the broken, unenforced system to make their way into and stay in the United States. Just how many sleepers are waiting for the chance to carry out a planned attack? What about radicalized illegals? One only has to look at other countries that have allowed an influx of illegal immigrants and even refugees who were deemed “in need” to see what has happened. In those countries, they have seen a huge spike in assaults and rapes. Females are being accosted more and more on the streets, and it has gotten to the point that people in Europe are calling for less restrictive gun laws to allow them to protect themselves! That is Europe we are talking about, home to some of the most restrictive gun laws around.
So, why are people rioting and protesting this temporary order? Because of the lack of knowledge and failing to look at the big picture of how this affects the United States and its people. No system is perfect, yet one must look at whether the benefit outweighs the problems. And can the problems be dealt with? Even when the President’s executive order on immigration was first implemented and some people were being held at airports or stopped from boarding planes, would that not be better than ignoring the problem in total? Keep in mind that those people were let in if they had a legitimate reason and purpose. I laugh at those protesting at the airports, cheering and welcoming the people who they think are “getting through” despite the order. They are making it in because they are following the law. I would cheer for them, also. People can be so blind when they let hate and emotions rule their thoughts.
There are, of course, all the jobs that the illegal immigrants take that could have gone to law-abiding Americans. In my county alone, 21% of the population is under the poverty line; almost one out of four citizens. Think of the jobs these individuals could have that are already taken by those who are breaking our laws. If you believe in our Constitution and our country’s fundamental system — the rule of law — then you have to understand why this is just plain wrong.
So, I think we can all agree that people should follow the proper laws and procedures to get into the country, and if those laws and procedures are not followed, you should not be allowed into the country. And if the President, who is charged with protecting the country and is given regular briefings on the threats facing us, decides that we should not let people in from certain countries until we establish stricter screening, then what’s wrong with that? I have found that many of those I have talked to who are against the order all have one thing in common. When asked if they bothered to even read the order, they said no. Really? You’re protesting or arguing against something you have never even read for yourself? Then where did you learn what was in it and what you don’t like about it? Please don’t tell me you learned everything from the “news.”
Let’s all agree to disagree on what we think about the order, but remember this—when you fill out your income taxes this year, there are millions of undocumented workers who are not doing that, so your taxes are going to supporting them. I work way too hard and have worked way too long to be trying to support someone else; I have a hard enough time doing it for my family.
It all boils down to one simple thing—if you want to enter the US, there are established rules and procedures to follow. If you are able to do that, you are welcome here, and we encourage it. But if you try to break our laws and take resources and support from my fellow Americans, you need to leave or be deported. If you think these illegal aliens should be allowed in, please contact your local sanctuary city and tell them you would welcome them into your home. You can support them and help them and take the burden off of the rest of the law-abiding citizens.
