Why Does the Left Continue to Protest Illegal Immigration Enforcement?

As the demonstrations continue and the news stories churn in about those who have been “delayed” trying to come into the nation, I have to wonder what the left are thinking when they protest the president’s ban on ILLEGAL immigration. We are a nation of laws. There are legal means to enter the country which seem to have worked for centuries.

The president’s temporary ban on travel from certain countries is based on information he got from the previous administration, yet it’s all the current president’s fault? And his increased arrest and deportation of ILLEGAL immigrants is nothing more than enforcing the current laws we have on the books.

Why does the left insist on crying foul when we enforce the laws we have on the books? There are millions of people here in this country who came legally, or with ancestors that came legally (my own included) and followed the requirements to become citizens.

My family was established in the United States when my ancestor came to serve in the Revolutionary War as a “life guard” of George Washington. My ancestor came to the US and served in the defense of this country. Then, after serving in the Army, his family settled in the country and began the line of ancestors I ended up coming from. I am not a German-American (although that’s where they came from), I am an American. I am proud of my family’s military service to this country over the generations.

That is why it is hard for me to have any kind of sympathy for anyone who does not follow the rules and laws of this country to get here. Once here, I feel that you owe this country not only your support but your time and effort. Those who want to come here and become Americans should first understand and follow our laws to do so.

So, the protests and uproar about the president’s immigration enforcement is ridiculous. If you are in favor of illegal immigration, you are in favor of things contrary to what this country stands for. This country was based on rules that were designed to allow people the opportunity to follow their dreams as long as they did not interfere with others. Illegal immigration costs this country billions of dollars a year; illegal immigrants don’t pay proper income taxes. Sure, they may pay taxes on purchases at the store, but other than that, they cannot contribute to the communities they live in. You and I pay for the schooling, fire, police, hospital bills, and healthcare for those who do not pay for it themselves.

So, the next time you see a protester ranting and raving because police are detaining those who are here illegally, remember that your family is here lawfully. If your family, like mine, has made it a point to serve this country and pay their share of its upkeep, why are you against those here illegally being held accountable for not putting forth the effort to obtain citizenship in the lawful manner that your ancestors did?

I have an offer. If you are for illegal immigration, open your home and take them in. Pay for their upkeep and bills, and then tell me you are still for it.

This country is a country of immigrants, yes—LEGAL immigrants.
