President Donald Trump has called for a parade to honor the military. There is one planned for November 10, which is the day before America’s 100th anniversary of winning World War I, and on Veterans Day. But the usual suspects are complaining about its estimated 12 million dollar cost; this shows a stunning lack of intellectual constituency.
When liberals are trying to solve problems, or at least look like they are, there is no problem that can’t be solved with more money and no bill is too big. For example, liberal reporter Molly Knight wants more funding for the opioid crisis. I remember listening to the Nevada State of the Union address, and the squishy moderate Republican Governor Brian Sandoval used the word invest so many times he made me feel like I was getting stock advice. But what he and so many tax-and-spend liberals mean by the word investment is more spending. Republicans at least talk about reducing the deficit, though their recent budget betrayed those principles. Democrats though, don’t even discuss the issue except when they can disingenuously attack Republicans. Their usual tactic is to complain that Republicans are attacking or hurting the poor by cutting their government benefits.
Trump will spend more money on his war parade than on our national opioid crisis. He does not care about anyone but himself. https://t.co/5xLE65Ij2c

Saving money is a great goal. Given the astounding budget deficit and impending debt crisis, it would be good to see Washington politicians emphasize fiscal restraint. But it rings hollow when politicians selectively oppose or support spending depending on the political advantage they gain from it. In fact, insincere opposition to a military parade is exactly why many people hate the swamp and elected an outsider like Donald Trump.
