Once a week, for 52 weeks this year, OpsLens will post a card highlighting one of the 52 Most Wanted Post 9/11 Frontline Leaders. You’ll learn the top facts about their business or organization, as well as why they made the list, which comes down to impact, scalability, health and unique selling proposition. It was a personal turning point in Neil Whitney’s life when his diet and wellness began to suffer after a knee surgery, a turning point that ultimately changed his professional trajectory to that of an entrepreneur. He sought a simple plan to eat healthy, and the echo of military lessons to follow the leader and mimic the behavior of successful people inspired an idea.
In 2015, he cofounded MEnūD, a national subscription application that offers a user-friendly tool to eat healthy based on the advice from popular celebrity role models. Rather than encouraging people to scrutinize over nutrition metrics, MEnūD wanted to go straight to the source. They began partnering with health and wellness celebrities who showcase undeniable expertise when it comes to healthy lifestyles.
Headquartered in Nashville, MEnūD has a data base of more than 55,000 restaurants, over 140 popular chains, and thousands of unique venues around the country (and even in Canada). But, tackling the problem of healthy eating in restaurants was just the beginning. Users – more than 11,000 of them – began asking Neil and the Menud team to create a better way to plan meals at home too.
In October of 2017, MEnūD in the Kitchen was released which allows customers to plan delicious, healthy meals to a weekly calendar, recommended by their health role model. And, even better, customers can push the meals to their grocery list and even set up for home delivery. Neil and his amazing partners are trying to radically change the way we eat healthy by removing all the excuses from bad diets. His business means it when they say they partner with the best people in health, wellness, fitness, and food; from country music’s favorite, personal trainer Erin Oprea (a former Marine) to P-90X sensation Tony Horton (whose father served in the Army).
MEnūD is a frontline leader that should be on your list of most wanted businesses to support in 2018.
