“Official government IDs are not some plaything produced so you can feel good about your self-created reality. IDs serve one purpose—to help identify you.”
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any crazier, yesterday, NBC News published a story entitled “Lawmakers in New York, D.C. Propose Third Sex on Driver’s Licenses.” To save you the trouble of reading it, the article is as crazy as it would appear by the title. Felix Ortiz, New York Assistant Speaker of the House, has proposed a bill that allows people to mark X instead of the traditional male or female sex. He stated, “Our governmental agencies should reflect the society we live in…While this change may seem small, it is a step forward to change the rigid mindset often faced by many today…Having an ID and paperwork that recognizes the full spectrum of our humanity will be a huge step toward full LGBTQ rights.”
This was followed by Brianne Nadeau, councilmember in the District of Columbia, also proposing that licenses issued in Washington, D.C. have the additional sex denomination of X added. In what one can only hope is a bad comedy routine, she stated, “Gender is a spectrum, and some of our residents do not identify as male or female…Current licenses force residents to conform to genders that don’t accurately reflect their identity. This has not only a practical impact but also a deeply negative emotional and mental health impact.”
Merriam-Webster defines sex as “either of the two major forms of individuals that occur in many species and that are distinguished respectively as female or male especially on the basis of their reproductive organs and structures.” In other words, sex is what it is. To help define this a little more clearly, let’s look at what determines gender—chromosomes. According to biology-online, “In humans, there are two forms of sex chromosomes: the X chromosome and Y chromosome. A pair of X and Y results in a male while a combination of X and X results in a female.” So there you are, you either have a XX or XY pairing, which determines your sex.
Here comes the part where I am sure the death threats will start. If you are an XX and say you are a male, you are pretending to be something that you are not. I don’t care, as it in no way affects my life at all, and I even support your right to do so. Even if you get a sex change operation, you are still pretending. The doctors may have created some facsimile of the opposite sex, but biologically, your body is still what it was born to be. Your chromosomes are what they are, and for the foreseeable future, there is no chance of changing that.
Why do I bring all of this up? Because official government IDs are not some plaything produced so you can feel good about your self-created reality. IDs serve one purpose—to help identify you. Like it or not, sex is one of those classifications that people use.
If that is not sufficient reasoning, then let’s look at Paul Wolscht. Paul is a 50-plus-year-old male father with seven children. Unless you choose to live in Paul’s un-reality. In that case, his name is Stefonknee, a six-year-old girl who lives with an adoptive family. Well, that is only partially true—he used to be an eight-year-old girl, but his adoptive sister wanted to be older than him, so he changed his age to six. Is this really the world that we want to live in?
This is very typical of the liberal agenda—they will not stop until they have taken everything to an extreme version. This man is not an eight- or six-year-old, much less a girl. Yet here he is. So in a couple years, he will be a 60-plus-year-old man allowed to shower with young girls in their high school locker room. But that isn’t weird at all, is it?
How about we take this out to its very clear eventualities. If simply changing your age and sex is going to become vogue now, how long until it is legally validated? Once that happens, how long until it is used in a legal defense? I don’t want to pay my taxes, credit cards, car payments, etc. That is ok—I will simply rack up $100,000 in debt and then declare myself to be a minor and therefore not responsible for the debt. Sound ridiculous? How about claiming premenstrual syndrome as a defense for murder? Sandie Craddock did exactly that and was found guilty of manslaughter for stabbing a coworker to death. What about using sleep walking (or sexsomnia) as a defense for rape? Jan Luedecke was acquitted even though the non-consensual sex act was never in question (nor was the fact that he had the forethought to put on a condom in his sleep). My favorite, however, is the case of Ethan Couch. This young man drove while intoxicated, killing four people. His defense? Influenza. He was simply too wealthy to know the difference between right and wrong. It worked for him, and that is just as ridiculous a defense as saying that someone’s actual age is not as legally important as their fictitious age, sex, legal status, etc.
Plus, imagine the joy of being able to relive your childhood dream of winning the Pee Wee football championship. You would be the biggest kid on the field, and no one could tackle you. Well, unless a recently retired NFL lineman decided that due to traumatic brain injuries, he is also a Pee Wee-age child.
At some point, this craziness has to stop. Again, if someone wants to pretend to be something they are not, go ahead. If you want to be an amicagender (a gender that changes depending on what friend you are currently with) spotted Bengal tiger, go for it. Just don’t expect me to pay for your lifestyle or stop them from euthanizing you when you bite someone. Additionally, don’t expect me to change the laws protecting my family so that you can feel better about yourself.
What liberals don’t want to see or accept is how creating new exceptions impacts society at large. They are more concerned about hurt feelings than they are about safety. To be completely honest, I don’t care if an actual transgender person wants to use a bathroom of the opposite sex. The problem is in opening the law and allowing in perverts. There have already been cases where this has happened. In fact, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton recently asked Target to reconsider its bathroom policies after a second person was arrested for recording women in various stages of undress.
You have the right to pretend to be whatever you want. What you do not have the right to do, however, is legislate my acceptance of your views. Your rights do not trump my rights, nor vice versa. What transgender individuals need to accept, as do the politicians pandering to their votes, is that you cannot change the facts of what you are. There are reasons that we have these classifications. They are there to protect, not hamper.
