Often acerbic Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D – IL), who fills every opportunity flicking a serpent’s forked tongue at President Trump and getting arrested at plenty of immigration sit-ins and protests, has signaled he is vacating his congressional seat.
According to a Breitbart report published November 28, 2017 Rep. Gutiérrez ruled out running for the Chicago mayoral seat and the Puerto Rico gubernatorial chair. But…he did not rule out running for the US presidency in 2020. Awrighty then.
“I will be reaching out to people across the country. I am going to take the steps to guarantee [Federal Election Commission] regulations and rules about campaign financing, first and foremost, make sure I’m following the law.” –Rep. Luis Gutiérrez
“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one,” was written by John Lennon, but I bet it is stuck in Rep. Gutiérrez’s brain in a different way. Whereas John Lennon spoke of peace and harmony, Rep. Gutiérrez protests for DREAMers and DACA and illegal immigrants who hole-up in sanctuary cities where federal immigration officials are hindered in their constitutional deportation efforts. I see no peace and harmony in that, not when illegality is your very first move. The nexus of national security and properly-attained citizenship is paramount.
The nexus of national security and properly-attained citizenship is paramount.
Perhaps Rep. Gutiérrez eyes his dynasty overflowing with DREAMers. Maybe he feels the laws governing immigration do not apply in his would-be kingdom.
Frankly, I see Mr. Gutiérrez’s smokescreens and fire-breathing not much different than the “Kid Rock for Senate” sham. You know, the one that worked up quite a number of folks (including myself) to rally for Rock’s supposed senatorial bid…only to have him treat it farsically. A ploy. An example of what celebs and infamous figures do to garner more exposure and popularity, then turn around and make loyalists look like mere collateral damage in their quests.
Kind of like what Gutiérrez does when he gets in the faces of federal law enforcement agents and, after repeated lawful commands to cease, desist and vacate taxpayer-owned properties…forces his arrest…then goes on social media to pat himself on the back.
As a Facebook commenter summed up in response to Rep. Gutiérrez’s arrest by ICE agents in Chicago: “So just how Democrats like Luis Gutierrez doing on their tax payer funded $174,000 yearly salary? They are participating in stunts like this and getting arrested. Gutierrez, trying too obstruct ICE from doing their job was arrested at Chicago ICE HQs. Luis Gutierrez found time to go on Twitter…”
Before one of his string of arrests, he was foolish enough to publicly state he expects to be arrested. Doesn’t that unambiguously imply he knew his actions were criminal? To date, Mr. Gutiérrez was arrested at least five times and is heralded as a “champion of amnesty.” With Rep. Gutiérrez quitting congress, I guess his cohorts will have to supplant a mouthpiece.
Assuming Mr. Gutiérrez is serious about running for US president, what does one do about that arrest record. Hhmmm, what to do, what to do?
The kind of legacy so often painted by Mr. Gutiérrez is one for the annals of fighting for immigrants’ rights. Bona fide five-time deportee Jose Ines Garcia Zárate, who shot/killed Kate Steinle, was inexplicably acquitted of homicide on November 30, 2017, thanks to a jury of our peers in San Francisco. Rep. Gutiérrez is an avid proponent of sanctuary cities, like the one in which Zárate lurked…encroaching upon Ms. Steinle’s walk with her dad on a San Francisco pier.
In its most basic form, Zárate is the demographic for whom Rep. Gutiérrez goes to battle. One of Mr. Gutiérrez’s handful of lawful detentions happened in the streets of NYC (literally) when NYPD cops arrested him for protesting/blocking traffic on 5th Avenue, directly in front of Trump Tower. That September 2017 arrest followed Gutiérrez’s protest of President Trump’s immigration enforcement initiatives, the core of which is to rid American streets of the likes of illegal aliens such as Mr. Zárate.
If anything is worthy of mention, it is his convictions to what he believes is vital for America. Albeit misguided, Mr. Gutiérrez has gone to bat for the illegal immigrant demographic. So much for representing bona fide American citizens, huh?
#KateSteinle will leave an enduring legacy. The stunning depravity of her murderer’s acquittal will be a turning point in American history. The lines are drawn. #BuildTheWall

As Fox News Mark Steyn put it: “It is a miscarriage of justice in the profoundest sense in that Kate Steinle is dead because she went for a walk in a popular destination in her own city, and her parents will never see anybody convicted for that crime.” That is strong. That is pointed. That is the definition of injustice. How is anyone blind to such horrors born of the illegal immigration malignancy?
For Kate Steinle’s mom and dad, it puts the DREAMers connotation on their feet, but with major drag. Even though having their daughter back is impossible, justice for their child’s murder was never considered unreachable. As forensic criminologist Dr. Ron Martinelli stated, “The prosecution’s case was an incompetent joke. The defense’s equally ridiculous defense of this vile murderer as simply ‘accidentally firing’ the [stolen] gun [belonging to a federal agent] that ultimately and ‘accidentally’ killed Steinle ultimately resonated with the jury who had been legally obstructed by the court from knowing the whole story about Zarate’s past and current criminal actions. Hence, they acquitted him of murdering Kate Steinle. An amazing and horrific miscarriage of justice.”
This stunning scenario is the latest overthrow spawned by the soft-handedness of the prior administration. But it is also the promise-filling fortification of the current commander-in-chief’s convictions, especially pertaining to illegal aliens on our terrain.

In the scheme of things, Gutiérrez will be hard-pressed to garner enough of the voter base which supports immigration enforcement and the border wall project. In fact, his highly-probable first tenet would be to smash the border wall to smithereens and wave white flags at the nation’s border security posts while passing out Get-out-of-jail-free cards. Zárate clones will pour right on in, then we’ll really be scratching our heads:
Can someone explain to me how an illegal alien ( who was previously deported several times) can kill someone and walk away? #KateSteinle

Despite the flabbergasting jury decision acquitting Zárate of murder, manslaughter and assault with a firearm, he was only found guilty of felon in possession of a firearm. Zárate’s attorney argued that his client found the firearm and that it accidentally discharged, leading to Ms. Steinle’s death. That firearm “found” in the illegal hands of felon Zárate which culminated in his illegal presence snuffing out a life which had no chance to defend against a sanctuary city fugitive…is appalling.
The San Francisco Sheriff’s Department refused cooperation with federal agents, defying an ICE detainer request
The San Francisco Sheriff’s Department refused cooperation with federal agents, defying an ICE detainer request for which the feds would have abated this entire incident thus preserving Kate Steinle’s citizenship and life.
This is the type of demographic Rep. Gutiérrez so ardently perpetuates. We at least know he would make a myopic president. Who is next? How many more Kate Steinle’s are walking the streets, unwittingly endangered?
Nonetheless, had Zárate not been illegally on American soil for the sixth time, Kate Steinle would be strolling with her dad again. And Rep. Gutiérrez would be out creating his latest silly dustups leading to another in a series of arrests on behalf of non-citizens.
“His supporters have given him the nickname El Gallito – the little fighting rooster – in reference to his fiery oratory and political prowess,” Wikipedia claims. A rooster with a criminal history; definitely unique among the myriad criminal pedigrees I’ve encountered as a cop.
“The circumstances that directly led to the murder of Kate Steinle took years to evolve and were tacitly if not directly ratified, validated, encouraged and enabled by a generation of old style hippie leftists, liberal university professors, selfish and self-serving millennial dot-comers and open borders advocates,” said criminologist Dr. Martinelli. Sound like the complicit clump to which Rep. Gutiérrez belongs?
Addressing inquiry regarding a potential 2020 presidential bid, Rep. Gutiérrez told Politico, “I will be reaching out to people across the country. I am going to take the steps to guarantee [Federal Election Commission] regulations and rules about campaign financing, first and foremost, make sure I’m following the law.” Given his criminal arrest records, following the law does not appear to be one of his strong suits.
“We didn’t do enough in 2016,” Rep. Gutiérrez added. “I think I can bring a new set of eyes to the situation.”
Is Rep. Gutiérrez the kind of ass we want seated in the Oval Office chair? Imagine that.
