In, of course, San Francisco, a disease-ridden urban manure showcase, actual Dem moderate Governor John Hickenlooper of Colorado was roundly booed at the California Democratic convention on Saturday when he dared to denounce socialism in front of the assembled parasites and psychos.
The beer brewer turned governor rightfully pointed out that the president would “paint us into a corner we can’t get out of” because of the party’s current loyalty to socialism. Though himself indirectly praising “massive government expansion” that he somehow does not equate with socialism, he warned their nominee would start out “ten yards behind” in states they have to win to beat the president. But for California Dems, not quite a stoic bunch, the tween emotional pull of socialism is so powerful it was as if Hickenlooper had spit on their favorite Bobby Sherman poster.
For his ideological honesty and tactical wisdom he polls almost at the bottom of Dem contenders.
Now look, I hold no brief for Colorado. I spent an unfortunate two months out there in 2016 overseeing a personal debacle that made “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” look like a Hallmark movie.
To my jaded East Coast sensibilities Denver was a land of bland food, blander people, and ice-age conditions seven months of the year. Though, once got a really good haircut there. That is the width and breadth of the view I have of the joint. However, they did not seem like Bolshies. Left of center in that excruciatingly annoying pine needle junkie sort of way? Yup, but not hard left. That could be why Hillary only won Colorado by less than five percent.
As mentioned, this governor got his start as a brewer and gained his chops as a success in the free market. Though he has forgotten much of that wisdom by joining the Dems, at least he still abhors socialism. Quite a feat in today’s Dem party of Red Guards and the Corrupt Commissars of Congress.
So the poor wee guv will huff and puff his accurate yet ignored tale of upcoming woe and the Dems will clutch their hammers and sickles and, as Hickenlooper correctly foresees, pull a 1972 and portsidestep their way to a massacre.
After that pranging will people like Hickenlooper have some say in 2024? More likely not. The Dems, like all fanatics who look for heretics not converts, will be even more petulant than they are now, if that’s even a theoretical possibility. That could usher in decades of the rule of a Trump-inspired GOP.
As such, seeing a foreshadowing of that in the booing of this governor fills me with hope, joy, and bliss.
The governor?
He really needs a beer. Maybe two.
