In mid-February, Napa County Deputy Riley Jarecki narrowly escaped death when the driver of a suspicious car she was investigating shot at her with a revolver from point-blank range. Fortunately, the driver missed. Even better, the deputy is a better shot. After avoiding the round, she repositioned herself and returned fire, killing the suspect.
Now, KTVU is reporting, according to ICE officials, the 43-year-old suspect who shot at her, Javier Hernandez-Morales “has been deported from the U.S. three times since 2007.” KTVU also reports ICE has implied by not transferring Hernandez-Morales over to immigration officials, disregarding several requests, “Napa corrections officials risked public safety.”
Well, there you go California—Governor Gavin Newsom, and your nation’s first “Sanctuary State.” How’s that working out for you? It ain’t working out so well for the people, including your cops. Just ask Cpl. Ronil Singh’s family.
Luckily, a brave deputy sheriff, the daughter and granddaughter of cops, will continue to serve her community. She’ll attend family and friends’ birthday parties, anniversaries, and celebrate holidays. She’ll continue to live her life and enjoy all the blessings that entails.
Deputy Jarecki will be able to do these things only because a man who was not even supposed to be in the U.S. shot at her and missed—just barely. This was a man whom corrections authorities in the deputy’s own county may not have turned over to ICE because of California’s insane illegal immigrant criminal protection laws.
Napa County Supervisor Alfredo Pedroza appears to question ICE claims of Napa corrections denying several requests to turn Hernandez-Morales over to immigration authorities. Pedroza said, “We owe it to everyone to make sure we understand the facts of this situation.” Well, Supervisor Pedroza, I’d say we understand the “facts of this situation” quite well. California seems to be a haven for multi-deported, cop-killing, illegal alien criminals.
Thankfully, this article updates a story about a Napa County deputy sheriff who is alive today, instead of announcing her funeral arrangements. No thanks to Governor Newsom, California’s Sanctuary State Law, and all the misguided (and nefarious) souls who support it.
