Trump Golf Course Accused of Handing Out Fake Green Cards to Undocumented Workers

By: - December 31, 2018

Supposedly, New Jersey’s attorney general has evidence that the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster issued fake social security numbers and green cards to undocumented workers. Anibal Romero, who is acting as counsel for several undocumented immigrants, claims to possess evidence that her clients were issued fake documents at the Trump National Golf Course.

Allegedly, Romero approached special counsel Robert Mueller, but his team declined to get involved, claiming that the immigration claims were outside of their jurisdiction. The FBI, however, was apparently briefed by the Mueller team and reached out to Romero, who then turned over evidence.

On the 2016 campaign trail, Trump claimed that no undocumented employees worked at his facilities and that they used the E-Verify system to confirm that only those legally allowed to work were hired. The Trump Organization, which oversees many of the president’s hotels, golf courses, and other business interests, quickly denied responsibility, releasing a statement: “We have tens of thousands of employees across our properties and have very strict hiring practices. If any employee submitted false documentation in an attempt to circumvent the law, they will be terminated immediately.”

According to Wikipedia, the Trump Organization has roughly 22,450 employees. If an investigation moves forward, investigators will likely focus on whether the Trump Organization provided the illegal documents in question, or if the immigrants somehow procured them for themselves. Already, evidence has emerged that the Trump Organization did indeed employ undocumented immigrants.

Take Victorina Morales, who worked at the Bedminster golf club for over five years, and claims to have personally cleaned the president’s room. In fact, Morales was such a good employee that the White House even awarded her a certificate, thanking her for her work. Problem is, Morales is an undocumented worker.

According to The New York Times, however, there’s no evidence that the president or senior managers knew that Morales or anyone else were undocumented. However, it appears that two supervisors were aware and actually helped the undocumented workers avoid scrutiny.

The investigation comes as the president is seeking $5 billion in funding for a border wall. So far, Congress and Democrats in particular have balked at the spending.
