Trump Promises to Donate $1 Million Dollars if Sen. Elizabeth Warren Takes DNA Test

President Trump has claimed that he will donate $1 million dollars to a charity of Elizabeth Warren’s choice if she takes a DNA test and proves that she is of Native American descent. Senator Warren (D-MA) has previously claimed that she is of Native American descent, a claim that President Trump has questioned before.

There are some stipulations, however. The “bet” will only be good if Warren runs in the 2020 Presidential race and if she claims again that she’s Native American. As of now, Senator Warren is among the leading likely Democratic contenders for the 2020 Presidential race. However, she has recently stated that she has no intention of running for the highest office.

Senator Warren has claimed that her family has Delaware or Cherokee ancestry, although she has yet to furnish any proof. She claims that her parents and grandparents, who are now deceased, were the proof. Warren was previously listed as a minority faculty member at Harvard, from 1986 to 1995. Harvard had cited Warren as an example of diversity within the faculty. It remains unclear, however, if Harvard hired her specifically for her heritage.

Previously, President Trump had called Warren “Pocahontas,” likening her to the famous 17th-century Native American woman who married English settler John Rolfe. Pocahontas had actually been captured by the settlers. When offered freedom, she decided to stay with the English. Trump has since apologized to the original Pocahontas but has remained a fierce critic of Warren and her ancestral claims.

Trump’s comment came during a November 27th ceremony at the White House. At the time, the administration was honoring Navajo code talkers from World War II. The code talkers played a vital role in the war effort as the Japanese were unable to understand their language. Code talking had also been used during the first war, but the Native Americans were Cherokee and Choctaw.
