U.S. Marshals Shoot Armed Fugitive After He Rams Their Vehicles, Sparking Riots in Memphis

Once again, the anti-cop, leftist lunacy is on full display. This time in the Frayser neighborhood of Memphis, TN. Reuters is reporting protesters clashed with the cops, “some throwing rocks,” injuring 24 or more police officers and sheriff’s deputies. Six cops were hospitalized. Demonstrators also injured two journalists during the melee.

What gross violations of human and civil rights did the cops violate this time to cause yet another leftist riot? U.S. Marshals, federal agents charged with apprehending fugitives, attempted to arrest a man identified as Brandon Webber, a 20-year-old black male. The U.S. Marshals had multiple arrest warrants for Webber.

Reportedly, Webber resisted arrest, forcing U.S. Marshals to shoot and kill him.

But the curious part of the mob rioting over this incident is how, precisely, Webber resisted arrest. It wasn’t subtle. Reuters reported Webber used his car to ram several U.S. Marshal’s vehicles (which, if you’re wondering, the law considers deadly force). CBSNews.com reported, after ramming the agent’s vehicles, Webber got out of his car with an unidentified weapon. Marshals fired an unknown number of times, killing Webber.

Reuters also reported, “Shortly before he was shot, Webber posted a live video on Facebook that showed him in a car, rapping and apparently smoking a marijuana cigarette. In the video, he looked out the window and said he saw police. With a laugh, he looked directly into the camera and said the officers would ‘have to kill me.’”

Refreshingly, Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland castigated the violent demonstrators. “Let me be clear,” he said. “The aggression shown toward our officers and deputies tonight was unwarranted.” Reports indicate the shooting involved no Memphis police officers.
