The ex-wife of former British Foreign Minister Robin Cook said, after he left her for his 28-year-old secretary, that politicians are like “alpha male chimpanzees, using the power of their status to fornicate at will.”
To anyone who has ever worked in politics or government, this is not a great zoological discovery. Many men, not exactly playboys in high school or college, go into politics for that express reason and other things vaguely to do with ideology or principle. As Kissinger opined, “Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.” To a certain kind of woman, perhaps.
Granted, Biden is not accused of assaulting anyone. But copping feels usually meets close to the definition in this day and age. Though, not for Nancy Pelosi yesterday when asked if the Delaware codger’s all-hands-on-deck inclinations disqualify him from the 2020 race. “Not at all,” said the former crusader for the hanging of any male who was accused of anything, anywhere, anytime.
That’s why the surprised statements from Dems over allegations of Joe Biden’s public groping of various women are akin to the moment in “Casablanca” when Captain Renault closes up Rick’s because he is “shocked” that gambling is going on there. Right after he does, a casino employee hands him “your winnings, sir.”
Others like MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski defend Joe’s creeping as “extremely flirtatious in a completely safe way.” I guess to Mika the alleged actions of conservative Supreme Court nominees are not as cuddly and adorable. Only PC Dem men meet this standard, as Biden’s recent emasculated ramblings on his role in the Clarence Thomas confirmation seem to suggest.
As such, Dem women seem to fall for the fake “sensitive guy” routine so beloved of today’s leftist males and graduates of mime college. That it is merely a pose to get to the same goal that GOP roués use expense accounts to achieve doesn’t seem to phase them in the least.
Remember, this is coming from the political home of alpha chimps JFK, his brother Ted, Gary Hart, Bill Clinton, John Edwards, etc. Not that the GOP doesn’t have its own jerks. But it also doesn’t go out of its way to advocate the sanctimonious feminist “all women are to be believed” line. However “all” to Dems apparently doesn’t include women who make allegations against their officials. This de facto socialist party plays at being the “party of women.” And perhaps they’re right, if they’re referring to the manner of a sizable portion of their 2019 male contingent and the women referenced are twelve years old.
Will these charges derail Biden’s incipient candidacy or subsequent campaign? Jury is still out. But he could get a pass with the kind of aforementioned waiver bestowed by Mika. The more likely veto will come at some point because of his skin color and gender in a party obsessed by both to the point of mania.
So goes the opposition. Hypocritical, racist, and sexist, to the core.
And if the economy holds, we play our cards right, and the GOP possesses a modicum of luck? The Dems are also sitting ducks in 2020.
Even for them, that’s not quite winning.
