Jail Elected Leaders of Sanctuary Cities? ‘Mr. ICE Man’ Thinks So

By: - January 4, 2018

“Frankly, I’d just form my operational plans and activate the resources to carry out the mission, remaining meek so as to preempt sabotage by those (politicians) who ardently stand in the way. They’ve not cooperated then, they’ll not cooperate now. Just go in and do the job.”

Now that the entire state of California is officially known as a “sanctuary state” harboring an untold number of illegal immigrants from the reach of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, ICE Acting Director Tom Homan floats the idea of arresting sanctuary city elected officials who are perpetuating the national security dilemma.

California’s Sanctuary State law went into full effect on January 1, 2018 and it takes a toll on law enforcement officers in the Golden State. Cali’s sanctuary state legislation “prevents state and local law enforcement agencies from using manpower or funds to hold or question people, or share information about them with federal agents, unless they have been convicted of one or more offenses from a list of 800,” reported the Mercury News.

Acting Director Hoban published a statement in response to California SB54 legislating it as a “Sanctuary State” to include many immigrant-related prohibitions for its law enforcement officials. Homan said, “Ultimately, SB54 helps shield removable aliens from immigration enforcement and creates another magnet for more illegal immigration, all at the expense of the safety and security of the very people it purports to protect.”

In California’s “Sanctuary State” statute summary is yet another expense, a huge one. Taxes! It “protects illegal aliens at the expense of citizens, will increase illegal immigration to California, and sends the message that illegal aliens are welcome everywhere in the state.” [emphasis added] Whether you support the Sanctuary State bill or not, if you are a resident in California…you’re going to foot the bill. Thank Governor Jerry Brown et al.

Whether you support the Sanctuary State bill or not, if you are a resident in California…you’re going to foot the bill.

Wow, talk about being handcuffed. Acting Director Homan believes California’s “street cops do not like this legislation. They’re totally against it. The street cops understand what we’re trying to do. We want to take public safety threats out of the communities.” I suspect Mr. and Mrs. Steinle are elated to hear that factor, albeit too late for their daughter slain in San Francisco’s sanctuary city.

Echoing the sentiments of President Donald Trump and US Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Acting Director Homan took to the airwaves on Tuesday to voice his concerns about illegal aliens being holed-up as sanctuary city invitees while politicos circumvent ICE agents and dismiss federal Naturalization laws.

ICE Director Homan told Neil Cavuto during a Fox News interview that the Department of Justice ought to “file charges against the sanctuary cities” and make every effort to “hold back their funding.” The latter has been bandied about for several months while the former puts new spark under the sanctuary city powder-keg.

“California better hold on tight…they are about to see a lot more special agents, a lot more deportation efforts.”

“California better hold on tight,” Director Homan told Cavuto, adding “they are about to see a lot more special agents, a lot more deportation efforts.” For California poles, I’d say that telegraphs the intent of DHS and ICE to multiply its troop deployments, despite sanctuary city status. Frankly, I’d just form my operational plans and activate the resources to carry out the mission, remaining meek so as to preempt sabotage by those (politicians) who ardently stand in the way. They’ve not cooperated then, they’ll not cooperate now. Just go in and do the job.

“We need to hold these politicians accountable for their actions,” Mr. Homan suggested in response to sanctuary cities playing politics while violating public safety. His perspective is intriguing: indict politicians of sanctuary cities whose illegal alien(s) commit crimes against American citizens. How about that view?

Pursuant to Director Homan’s suggestion, does the federal government put a case together and arrest California Governor Jerry Brown for his enormous role in safeguarding those who have no legal standing in America? For signing into law SB54 in October 2o17? Heck, that certainly puts his name on it.

Pull up the paddy wagon for the myriad local government politicians conspiring in the same criminal enterprise?

“We gotta take [sanctuary cities] to court, and we gotta start charging some of these politicians with crimes,” were Homan’s words laden with impatience over ill-coopted local governments coddling illegals like moles in holes.

“Mr. ICE Man”

Like ICE Director Homan, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings (D) chose not to mince words. In rebuttal to Homan’s pointed suggestion pertaining to prosecuting politicos for allowing fugitives to fester in their respective sanctuary city, Rawlings claimed he has “zero fear” of the federal government “rattling a saber,” tweeting his frustrations while dubbing Tom Homan as “Mr. ICE Man”:

Mayor Rawlings’ declaration “We’re not a sanctuary city. We cooperate with ICE” may come off as a tad testy. Why? Party affiliation, perhaps? A pushback for the boys/girls on the left? Name-calling denotes a different frustration, maybe one associated with an opposite political party. “The ICE Man” may actually be worn as a badge of honor, though. I kinda’ think it’s cool.

Backing Mayor Rawlings’ words while also condemning Acting Director Homan’s leadership and competence, the ACLU deposited its two cents, tweeting:

Oh, the horrors. But many in President Trump’s corner –or at least expressing their dismay over the direction their country is going, one city at a time– lambast the California ideology…in various ways:

PinkAboutIt compelled me to think about it in more than just an immigration enforcement optics. You? Heck, they may even accumulate enough cannabis tax revenue to completely forget about federal funding sources. No need for seed money from outsiders, right Governor Brown?

The ICEman Cometh

Despite all the brouhaha over ICE Director Homan’s assertions, ICE agents are out there rounding-up those who crossed our nation’s border illegally and maintain hidden in American territories, some in sanctuary cities.

“Since U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was established in March 2003, the agency has removed hundreds of thousands of aliens, some of whom fall under the category of high-profile removals.” (Credit: Facebook/Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE)

With the aggressive stance taken by ICE officials since President Trump took office –authorizing immigration enforcement via executive order– ICE agents have been placing a dent in the transnational criminal enterprise MS-13, reducing its numbers. At the pace ICE agents are going, MS-13 may soon be renamed MS-1/3rd, scaled-back by Director Homan’s stringent and steadfast hardcore and hard-hitting field operations. So be it.

Catching a big fish recently exemplified ICE agents’ due diligence, nabbing a notorious MS-13 gang member whose sojourn in our country has exhibited leapfrogging from city to city, staying a hop ahead of federal immigration officials…until now.

ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) unit has been busy and traveling a lot lately. Capturing MS-13’s Ingmar Guandique, 35, in May 2017 and shipping his hiney back to El Salvador marks a milestone for national security warriors who work the streets, notwithstanding the cold-shouldering from sanctuary jurisdictions. The Department of Homeland Security bulletin announcing Guandique’s arrest and removal chronicles a violent illegal alien who stomped on our grounds without regard to citizens’ welfare, harming some while on the lam from ICE. All while some of our own American governance turned a blind eye, wittingly or unwittingly feeding the monster.

“Mr. Guandique unlawfully entered the United States, and once here, continued to violate U.S. laws by assaulting innocent victims,” said Matthew Munroe, acting ERO Washington field office director. “As a result of his actions, he has been removed to his home country of El Salvador.”

“In May 2017, Homan announced ICE had arrested 41,319 people between Inauguration Day and the end of April, a 38% increase from the same period the year before.” (Wikipedia)

“Thomas Homan deports people. And he’s really good at it.”

And a Washington Post article published in April 2016 succinctly opined with the words “Thomas Homan deports people. And he’s really good at it.” Kudos are cool!

Acting Director Thomas Homan was nominated by President Donald Trump in November 2017 to assume the seat as ICE Director. I’d say he is a shoe-in for publicly speaking about putting his shoe up the buttocks of sanctuary city politicos…and there are many. What do you think? Too much? Too Little? Too late?
