A white female shooter opened fire at an indoor luncheon at YouTube Headquarters located in San Bruno, California. Cursory reports indicate that approximately 200 police officers entered the 200,000 square-foot facility which houses roughly 1,700 YouTube employees.
Throngs of cops could be seen staged in the YouTube building’s parking lots while other police personnel were patting down evacuees one by one. That purpose and protocol is to ensure a potentially-cloaked shooter is not blended in the crowd and enabled to easily flee and elude authorities by pretending to be an evacuee.
Area hospitals are reporting a few patients in each of their respective ERs. Fox News reporters gleaned that the female suspect was indoors at YouTube and shot her boyfriend before shooting others. A bystander claimed an Asian woman was shot in the leg and another female was shot 10 times with “no mercy.”
The witness which reported the aforementioned details said “I didn’t have a gun but I wish I did!” He declined to give his name to media reporters on scene.
As often is the case in a massive and chaotic incident where hundreds of people are present, conflicting accounts and details contradict each other. For instance, several witnesses claim the shooter was a woman while others say it was a man. That lends to the importance of waiting for law enforcement to provide their accounts at official press conferences and releases of information.
I am shocked and saddened to hear about another mass shooting, this one at YouTube in my District. I am following developments and am sending prayers to the victims and survivors. We must take action and #EndGunViolence.

The shooter “has been taken down” is what was being reported repeatedly, although it was not attributed to police or other source. Some claims are that the shooter may have killed herself. Eventually, San Bruno police Chief Ed Barberini did confirm the shooter “appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound” and died.
As the building was still being cleared while a “methodical search” is conducted by police, the San Bruno PD confirms five victims total: four are hospitalized and the shooter is the only fatality at this time. The motive of the shooter appears to be domestic violence-related. Police confirm the female decedent was found laying nearby her boyfriend who she shot before committing suicide.
