Gary Sinise has become synonymous with the US Armed Forces. Not only has he visited troops stationed and deployed around the world, he has made huge efforts back home. His pro-military activism has earned him several awards and recognition. He founded the Gary Sinise Foundation, which offers several different programs aimed at helping veterans of the armed forces.
Mr. Sinise also formed the LT Dan Band–a nod to his most famous role in the film Forrest Gump–and has toured the United States and overseas performing for members of the military. Through his efforts with the USO and his own dedication, Gary Sinise has selflessly worked towards bettering the lives of service members and veterans.
Kid Rock has been an outspoken advocate for the US Armed Forces for quite some time. When the war in Afghanistan began, Kid Rock didn’t hesitate to travel there to visit troops. He even sat down with them to play guitar. He’s known for his loud and outspoken personality and staunch republican political views, which he makes no qualms about expressing.
Kid Rock has also been recognized for his work with the military and willingness to support the troops unconditionally. He has performed many times around the world for the armed forces. In addition to his personal contributions to the military, Kid Rock doesn’t mince words when it comes to his patriotism. He’s been known to denounce Colin Kaepernick with a few choice words for protesting the national anthem.
Another familiar face to the USO tours that travel to visit service members around the world is that of former Tonight Show host Jay Leno. The comedian has always been a vocal supporter of the troops, but he has also appeared on USO tours entertaining service members. Jay Leno has also contributed funds to organization directly benefiting service members, as well as participated in fundraisers.
In perhaps one of his most touching acts, Jay Leno met with a wounded warrior and let him drive his Dodge Hellcat. After the men finished their joyride, Leno announced that he was gifting the car to the veteran. He has taken the lead in the entertainment business in offering support to the troops in any way he can. Most people are aware of the comedian and his humor, they should also be aware of the magnitude of his generosity and giving heart.
Country music star Kellie Pickler is a big supporter of the United States military, and she has several awards to prove it. Including the Department of Defense Spirit of Hope Award–named for the legendary Bob Hope. The award recognized her for the amount of time she has spent giving back to the military community. Pickler has gone on numerous USO tours, visiting service members and their families.
She has also traveled to conflict zones to entertain the troops, which can be very risky for anyone traveling to places such as Afghanistan–where Pickler has made appearances. It’s not uncommon for those on USO tours to witness the not-so-great side of war or even come under fire themselves. For someone who has the option of remaining in the safety and security of the United States, Kellie Pickler has demonstrated that she’s willing to take the risk in order to show her support for the United States Armed Forces.
Tim McGraw is not only a country music superstar, he is a staunch supporter of the military and veterans. In addition to being an outspoken supporter, he has given over 100 homes to veterans and service members. McGraw has partnered with Operation Homefront–an organization that provides resources to military members and veterans–and donated mortgage free homes. He’s been very humble about his deeds, and has said that politics aside, the military needs everyone’s support.
In addition to his work with Operation Homefront, Tim McGraw has made tickets to various shows available at a discount for military and first responders. He has also participated in making public service announcements on behalf of veteran advocacy agencies. McGraw has made it a priority to show his support for the military community–service members and family members alike–and should be commended for his honorable work.
The entire Robertson family, the cast of the hit show Duck Dynasty, have shown their support for the military in so many different ways. Si Robertson, a Vietnam veteran himself, has made several appearances speaking out about the importance of caring for our nation’s veterans. The family has stood strong behind their Christian faith and taken those principles with them as they have traveled visiting the United States Armed Forces.
The Robertson family have gone on USO tours, including to Afghanistan, to meet with troops and express their appreciation. The family participated in a Christmas tour that took them around the globe visiting military communities in Europe and combat zones alike. Any fan of the show knows the family values and morals that the Robertson family holds dear, so the heartwarming appreciation they have shown to the military community comes as no shock. Truly a class act and amazing family.
John Cena has taken a lot of time to visit military members on various bases. He’s also willing to lend his name to causes that support service members. It’s said that his WWE antics as a professional wrestler have been dedicated to the United States Armed Forces, who he has spoken very highly of. He has received awards from the USO for his participation and selfless dedication to supporting the troops through his appearances.
John Cena should also be recognized for his charitable work with the Make-A-Wish program. It’s no surprise that a man of his caliber would be as giving to the United States military as he is in other areas of his life. It’s truly touching to see celebrities such as John Cena take time out of their schedules to support noble causes and still find time to show appreciation to those serving our country.
