2020 VISION: OPRAH FRENZY…

Among the many extraordinary aspects of Sunday’s Golden Globes, there were few that the internet loved more than the presence of Oprah Winfrey, who was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement.

Her outsize footprint at the ceremony was evident from the opening moments. The host, Seth Meyers, who once taunted Donald J. Trump from the stage of the White House Correspondents Association dinner and, some say, helped spur him to run for president, now used his monologue to level a similar jab at Ms. Winfrey.

On Wikipedia and Twitter — including the official NBC account — the prospect of an Oprah candidacy quickly gathered momentum.

The television icon, film producer and actress was a magnet for cameras throughout the telecast — smiling, laughing, bowing and inspiring a constellation of memes. Most had a similar thrust: Next to Ms. Winfrey, even the Hollywood elite were but mere mortals.
