Do Your Damn Job

By: - October 3, 2022

As we approach election season, it is not hard to find the faults of the Democrat led Congress, nor the mishaps of the Democrat President.

And, like usual, when Democrats go down the road to self sabotage, and Republicans start off with a large lead in the polls, we always seem to find a way to mess it up.

Just over a month before election day, and weeks before early voting across the nation, Republicans finally release their own plan/agenda to let the American people know what they want to do if they become the majority party again.

The problem is, why didn’t they have a plan in place since day one?

It has not been hard to come up with an alternative plan to anything Biden or the Democrats have proposed since day one of the administration. If Republicans were smart, every time Democrats push a bill onto the floor, Republicans would fight it, and have an alternative bill in hand ready to fight for.

But we don’t. We become the backseat drivers complaining and criticizing, but not presenting our own ideas.

The best example would be the latest continuing resolution, extending federal funding of the government to December 16th.

As we know, it is the job of Congress to pass a budget to fund the government.

“The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.”

This unfortunately hasn’t been properly done since the Obama administration. So when will Congress do their damn job?

We do not want extensions of budgets with ever increasing spending.

We do not want omnibus bills passed in order “to see what’s in them”.

We do not want the government to have a blank check to fund their pet projects any longer.

And if they were smart, leaders in the GOP would have a plan for a balanced budget, focus on economic prosperity on the home front rather than nations abroad, and a plan to reign in out-of-control government.

It’s not rocket science that needs to be released under a “Commitment to America”. It’s a common sense approach to running our nation that should be screamed from the top of Capitol Hill every day.
