In a case about which little information is being released publicly, the ex-husband of former First Lady Jill Biden now is facing murder charges for the death of his wife.

A report from Delaware’s News Journal said an indictment has been released naming William “Bill” Stevenson in the death of 64-year-old Linda Stevenson.

She was found unresponsive in her Elsmere-area home in December.

The indictment was announced by police in New Castle County.

The report noted police have said “little else” about the death.

“Court documents obtained by Delaware Online/The News Journal said only that he ‘did intentionally cause the death of Linda Stevenson,’” the report said.

He was named by a New Castle County Grand Jury using a “Rule 9” indictment, which does not make the police charging documents publicly accessible.

William Stevenson was the founder of the Stone Balloon, a club that has been a venue for Metallica, Dave Matthews and others.

Police responded to the home on December 28 and found the woman “unresponsive.”

She later was pronounced dead.

The Daily Mail said the suspect is facing “first-degree murder charges.”

That publication said police responded on that day to a report of a “domestic dispute.”

Stevenson was married to Jill Biden in 1970 and they divorced in 1975.

Shortly after, Jill married Joe Biden.

Stevenson later married Linda, and they had one daughter.

Her cause and manner of death have not been released.
