Chorus of Conservative Voices Sides with Nancy Pelosi and Against Paul Ryan on CBO Scores

What does Nancy Pelosi have in common with James Wallner, the vice president of research at the conservative Heritage Foundation and Scott Walker, the Republican governor of Wisconsin? All three want Speaker Ryan to wait for a CBO score before moving forward with Obamacare repeal.

A normal legislative diagnostic that projects the potential cost of pending legislation, the CBO score has suddenly become controversial on Capitol Hill. Republican leadership appears ready to skip the step and Democrats are crying foul.

Moments ago, Pelosi slammed Republicans for trying to overhaul the nation’s healthcare system without a good estimate of what that might cost. That’s not just irresponsible, the minority leader argued, it’s hypocritical. And to make her point, Pelosi circulated an old 2009 letter from none other than Ryan himself.
