President Donald Trump is well-known for his political endorsements, and he’s now proudly backing Viktor Orbán, the prime minister of Hungary who views his country as an island of “modern Christian government” surrounded by a “liberal ocean in Europe.”
In a post on Truth Social Tuesday evening, Trump said Orbán “is a truly strong and powerful Leader, with a proven track record of delivering phenomenal results. He fights tirelessly for, and loves, his Great Country and People, just like I do for the United States of America.”
“Viktor works hard to Protect Hungary, Grow the Economy, Create Jobs, Promote Trade, Stop Illegal Immigration, and Ensure LAW AND ORDER! Relations between Hungary and the United States have reached new heights of cooperation and spectacular achievement under my Administration, thanks largely to Prime Minister Orbán.
“I look forward to continuing working closely with him so that both of our Countries can further advance this tremendous path to SUCCESS and cooperation. I was proud to ENDORSE Viktor for Re-Election in 2022, and am honored to do so again. Election Day is April 12, 2026. Hungary: GET OUT AND VOTE FOR VIKTOR ORBÁN.

During his visit to the White House in November, Orbán said his administration was basically a “Christian government” surrounded by a “liberal ocean” on the continent.
“We are the only government in Europe which considers itself as a modern Christian government. All the other governments in Europe are basically liberal, leftist governments,” Orbán said. “We are kind of a special island of difference in a liberal ocean in Europe.”

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently praised Orbán on video, saying: “He has been like a rock. Today we live in turbulent times. You need leaders who can protect against this rising tide and can also ensure safety and stability for their own countries.
“This is what Viktor Orbán has in abundance. I know many world leaders, and I can tell you that he’s right there at the top. Viktor Orbán means stability, safety, security.”

Orbán has been leading the Central European nation for more than 16 years, but is reportedly lagging behind opposition leader Pete Magyar in recent polls.
The left-leaning Independent newspaper of Britain reports that “Magyar, leader of the Tisza party, accused Orbán’s Fidesz party of blackmailing him with a secretly recorded sex tape in February and vowed to file a complaint with authorities.”
“Fidesz communications director Tamas Menczer accused Magyar of lying and the party denied the allegations.
“Orbán’s government has also been accused of ‘treason’ and ‘betraying Hungarian and European interests’ over the alleged sharing of confidential EU information with Russia.”
The paper adds that Orbán, “a staunch ally of Russian president Vladimir Putin, has drawn widespread criticism across Europe for his support for the invasion of Ukraine.
“He has previously shrugged off Russian drone incursions into Nato airspace, saying: ‘So what?’ and declared: ‘Ukraine is not an independent country.’”
