A judge in Virginia, Melinda Vanlowe, complained it was “very difficult” to handle a case involving an illegal alien from El Salvador who was arrested for groping high-school girls.
And while the judge said the offender’s actions “targeted” the victims and confirmed a “pattern” of “deplorable” behavior, he was only given weeks behind bars.
The case involved Israel Florez Ortiz, who broke into the U.S. illegally in 2024.
He initially was arrested on nine counts of touching teen girls at Fairfax High School inappropriate, but four more charges later were added.
Eventually he was convicted on nine counts and acquitted on three. One count was dismissed.
He’s now 19.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials now have filed a detainer to take him into custody for deportation proceedings when his jail sentence, of only 135 more days, finishes.
But the New York Post noted “Fairfax County has sanctuary laws that restrict cooperation with ICE and the sheriff’s office usually does not comply with immigration detainers.”

According to Fox News, Oritz’ total sentence was 360 days but with time served and calculations for a misdemeanor he has only 135 days left, about 19 weeks.
Fox pointed out, “The case had heightened concerns among parents about student safety after years of former President Joe Biden’s open borders policy.”
The report said the case stems from a series of incidents in crowded school hallways that prosecutors said involved Flores Ortiz groping female students. The allegations sparked scrutiny in Fairfax County over school supervision and hallway safety.
