President Donald Trump on Friday returned from a diplomatic mission to China with a deal for the purchase of hundreds of American jets and the promise that officials there will not re-arm Iran’s rogue Islamic regime.
The president told reporters on Air Force One that jet deal involves the purchase of Boeing jets by China, 200 and possibly up to 750 should circumstances develop.
That factor has not yet been confirmed by China.
But the Daily Mail reported that the American corporation is competing with Airbus, of Europe, which has orders for about 500 jets.
Remaining in limbo were hopes by chip-maker Nvidia, which was wanting confirmation of China deals. Washington has approved selling those chips to China but Beijing has yet to take shipments.
Administration officials said on that topic, China is committed to developing its own product.
Further pending agreements involved up to $10 billion in American agriculture products.
Trump also said Chinese President Xi Jinping revealed he will not provide military equipment to Iran, giving the Trump administration the potential for a huge victory.
Xi “said he’s not going to give military equipment. That’s a big statement. He said that today. That’s a big statement. (He) said that strongly,” Trump told Sean Hannity.
Fox News reported Trump also said he would help end the Iran war.
“He said, if I can be of any help at all, I would like to be of help,” Trump said. “But at the same time, he said, you know, they buy a lot of their oil there, and they’d like to keep doing that. He’d like to see Hormuz Strait opened. I said, well, we didn’t stop it. They did it.”
Trump also said he thinks one result of the trip will be that China will buy oil from the U.S.
“We’re going to start sending Chinese ships to Texas and to Louisiana and to Alaska. And I think that was another thing that was agreed to it. That’s a big thing,” said Trump.
The president confirmed China shares the U.S. perspective that Iran cannot be allowed to gain access to nuclear weapons.
That was the impetus for the Operation Epic Fury that was conducted against Iran: assuring the world that the Islamists would not have nukes with which to threaten the rest of the world.
Further, published reports confirmed the U.S. and China agreed to set up boards of trade and investments, which could be used to address concerns over market access and more.
The president also noted the two sides worked on a plan to cut down on the supply of precursor chemicals used to make fentanyl.
