Violence erupts at UCLA amid anti-Israel protests on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

There’s a “hostile educational environment” for Jewish and Israeli students at the University of California-Los Angeles, according to a lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice against the school.

The action in federal court in California charges UCLA is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act for acting with “deliberate indifference” toward anti-Semitic actions including harassment, assaults and more.

A report from the Washington Examiner said the illegal treatment developed “during and after the wave of pro-Palestinian campus protests” that appeared after an attack by the terrorists of Hamas on Israeli civilians Oct. 7, 2023.

About 1,200 people were slaughtered, often in horrific fashion, and hundreds more kidnapped during that act of war.

The DOJ’s lawsuit charges demonstrators “physically blocked Jewish students from entering parts of campus,” and went further, by attacking, shoving, kicking and using sticks to beat them.

“Earlier this year, we sued UCLA for subjecting its Jewish and Israeli employees to an antisemitic hostile work environment,” explained Harmeet Dhillon assistant attorney general.

“Now, the Department of Justice calls UCLA to account for its toleration of the equally appalling hostile educational environment against its Jewish and Israeli students.”

There were on campus, according to the allegations, “checkpoints” around the pro-Palestinian radicals that denied passage to students unless they adopted anti-Israel political demands.

Wearing Star of David necklaces was grounds for punishment.

But there was no meaningful intervention on behalf of the innocent students, according to the complaint.

“Universities have an obligation to maintain safe and inclusive campuses for all students,” First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli for the Central District of California said in a statement.

Incidents included chants of “kill the Jews,” vandalism featuring swastikas and worse, the report said.
