President Donald Trump spoke at Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota on the eve of the nation’s 250th birthday, warning that there’s a “menace” that has returned and again is threatening America’s future.
Communism.
His comments came just hours after Zohran Mamdani, the New York City mayor who calls himself a Democratic socialist but advocates for communistic ideals, used the holiday attention to “rail against wealthy elites, immigration authorities,” and to accuse political leaders of betrayal, according to comments in the Washington Examiner.
Trump warned America’s identity now is under a “renewed attack” from a belief system that decades ago was driven into insignificance.
“A generation after we fought and won the Cold War against the menace of Communism, there is now a resurgence of the Communist menace in our land – including from newcomers to our country who embrace ideas totally opposed to our way of life,” he said.
He said those Marxist beliefs are the “enemy of the Constitution.”
“Communism is the exact opposite of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – it is death, tyranny and the pursuit of evil,” he aid.
He described it as an ideology of “mass theft, mass control, mass lies, and mass murder.”
“You can be a Communist, or you can be a patriot. You cannot be both,” he said.

In fact, several political hopefuls who claim the Democrat socialist tag but then pursue communistic agenda points have been chosen by Democrats in primary elections in recent weeks. One, in the race for the congressional seat representing Denver, in classic “blame-the-victim” ideology, blamed Israel for Hamas’ terror attack on October 7, and America for the 9/11 terror inflicted by Muslims on America.
Trump also celebrated America as the “oldest Republic on Earth” with the “freest people on Earth,” hailing the United States as “the most successful, most accomplished, most exceptional nation ever to exist in human history,” the report said.
He said, “It is not the norm. It is the exception. It is rare. It is priceless, and it is truly miraculous.”
The report explained, “Mamdani has emerged as the poster boy of the socialist movement, and the de facto leader of the Democratic party amidst a leadership vacuum that has not been filled since the 2024 election. … Mamdani sought to paint a picture of division in the country as a tool of the rich and powerful.”
