President Donald Trump, and the Republican Party, have been handed another victory in their nationwide battle over congressional redistricting, this time with a judge’s ruling that a GOP-friendly map will be used in November in Missouri.

Trump triggered a nationwide fight over redistricting as his party assembled a number of redistricting plans that would give his party members advantages in their congressional races, and the Democrats were handed a huge defeat when the Supreme Court said their long-used agenda to determine districts based on race was unconstitutional.

At this point, a dozen states or so have changed their districts, with analysts saying the bottom line is that Republicans are poised to gain about 10 or a dozen seats in the U.S. House because of the changes.

The individual battle in Missouri now has been resolved for this election year.

A report at Fox News revealed Cole County Circuit Judge Daniel Green ruled that Missouri’s constitutional referendum provisions “do not apply to congressional redistricting enacted by the General Assembly.”

That decision sided with Republican Secretary of State Denny Hoskins who declined to certify a referendum petition that opposed a legislatively approved map.

That means, the report said, the Republican-backed map “remains in full force and effect for the 2026 general election.”

The Republican-majority legislature in the state modified its districts after Trump urged Republican states to redraw those boundaries.

“The new boundaries are aimed at giving Republicans an opportunity to defeat Democratic Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Kansas City. Missouri’s current eight-member House delegation consists of six Republicans and two Democrats,” the report said.

The map could, then, produce a 7-1 majority for Republicans.

Hoskins had determined that the state constitution does not allow congressional redistricting to be put on a referendum, and the judge agreed.

Other states that have accomplished redistricting, to the possible benefit of Republicans, include Texas, North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana and Alabama. States that have tried to change their boundaries to benefit Democfrats include California, Utah and Virginia.
