They newest development in the war with Iran, launched to destroy its agenda to obtain and use nuclear weapons against Israel, which it had promised to wipe off the map, is that U.S. President Donald Trump has turned to economic sanctions.
That’s after he confirmed that U.S. military action over recent months has virtually wiped out Iran’s navy, and ability to pursue nukes.
The economic war will be devastating, he promised.
So now Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkia, has called for a quick end to the conflict, while the world recognizes Iran’s “victory.”
That’s according to a report published by Fox.
He “called for an end to Iran’s war with the U.S. on Friday during a speech at the General Assembly of the Islamic Association of the Medical Society of Iran,” the report said.
Pezeshkia insisted, “It is better to end the war today, when we are in power and dignity and the whole world acknowledges our victory and emphasizes that America, contrary to all regulations, attacked our schools, hospitals, and infrastructure, and is hated in the world.”
His comments were obtained in a translation of a text copy of his speech posted to an Iranian state media website.
He took a jab at the hardliners inside Iran who have insisted on continuing to fight:
“In the meantime, some people are sitting outside the circle; because they do not know the state of the government, the state of the parliament, and the state of the commanders, they make comments and analysis, even though they have not experienced any suffering or hardship, and then they talk about the cost. They do not find a single clause in this agreement that indicates a commitment; all commitments are related to the other party,” he said.
He conceded the damage already done: “Criticizing the problems of inflation and issues arising from the war is not consistent with the slogans of some. When we chant slogans, we must also accept their severity.”
Trump had announced an “Economic D-Day” in the fight.

It was U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent who has confirmed what will be the “toughest sanctions in history” on Iran, and Vice President JD Vance said there’s a new phase coming.
Iranian Gen. Ali Abdollahi responded that there would be “crushing, regret-inducing and devastating responses.”
Trump, in Truth Social post earlier, said, “No one has given the Islamic Republic of Iran a greater opportunity to make a Deal than me. … TRAGICALLY, for them, they have failed to take it.”
He cited the destruction of Iran’s navy, air force and military production facilities, and said its economy is “hanging by a threat.”
He warned that there would be consequences for financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities that try to come to Tehran’s aid.
“It all needs to stop NOW. You know who you are,” Trump said of those who continue to trade with or maintain economic ties with Iran. “This will be an ECONOMIC D-DAY, and we need all of our Allies to stand with the United States of America to isolate, and defeat, the Iran threat.”
Also, just a day earlier, the United Arab Emirates, a major contributor to trade with Iran and a prominent supporter of its economy, suspended billions of dollars in trade and financial dealings with Tehran, following what it said were two Iranian ballistic missiles fired at the Gulf state.
Iran denied launching the missiles.
