‘A truthful answer might incriminate me’: Boastful ‘Have My Baby in Miami’ doctor clams up and pleads 5th in birth-tourism hearing

The Florida pediatrician who ran “Have My Baby in Miami” encouraging women from all over the world to give birth to their children on U.S. soil to gain American citizenship pleaded the Fifth Amendment numerous times before Congress on Tuesday.

Dr. Wladimir Lorentz, founder and chief medical officer of Miami Medical Concierge Services, refused to answer any question from U.S. Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, during a House hearing titled “Protecting American Citizenship: Confronting Birth Tourism.”

His website has been taken offline, but his YouTube channel indicates: “Many people have questions about how to have a child in the United States, and we can help clarify how to deliver in Miami, how to live in the United States during your pregnancy, how to have a baby in the United States, how much it costs to deliver in the United States and how to go through pregnancy in the United States.

“Children who are born in the United States, with rare exceptions, have U.S. citizenship. Contact Dr. Wladimir Lorentz, the Miami pediatrician. He’ll love helping you be a mom in the United States.”

Lorentz’s website boasted of its media coverage not only from American media such as CNN and the Wall Street Journal, but as far away as Al Jazeera in the Middle East and the Moscow Times in Russia.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Gill pointed out to Dr. Lorentz: “This website isn’t public anymore. What motivated you to take down or, at least, substantially modify this website for ‘Have My Baby in Miami’ after we first wrote to you about birth tourism in May?”

Lorentz responded: “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the question on the grounds that a truthful answer might incriminate me, and I invoke my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution.”

Gill then asked: “Does your business help children of members of the Chinese Communist Party obtain American citizenship?”

Again, Lorentz replied: “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the question on the grounds that a truthful answer might incriminate me, and I invoke my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution.”

Gill pressed: “Have you ever facilitated the child birth in America for a member of Tren de Aragua, MS-13 or any other narco-terrorist organization?”

When it became clear no question would be answered, Gill dismissed the doctor.

“Birth tourism should appall every American citizen. It subverts the rule of law, cheapens American citizenship, and undermines our sovereignty as a nation,” said Gill.

“A growing industry is openly marketing American citizenship to foreign nationals who travel here for the express purpose of giving birth on U.S. soil. This abuse of our immigration system also raises serious national security concerns, particularly given the number of birth tourists traveling from adversarial nations like China and Russia.

“Our Task Force is demanding answers from the companies profiting from this scheme and examining how Congress can act quickly to shut it down.”

As WorldNetDaily reported, the U.S. Supreme Court on June 30 ruled children born in the U.S., including those whose parents are in the country unlawfully or only temporarily, are indeed American citizens according to the Fourteenth Amendment, striking down President Donald Trump’s executive order.

Is the news we hear every day actually broadcasting messages from God? The answer is an absolute yes! Find out how!
