Judge orders funding for DEI teacher training to continue after Trump nixes it * WorldNetDaily * by WND Staff

A federal judge has ruled that funding for teacher training programs that are based on what the Trump administration has determined to be “divisive ideologies” must continue.

The arbitrary ruling comes from Judge Angel Kelley, who claimed a cutoff of funding for programs based on discriminatory agendas was “arbitrary and apricious.”

A report at the Hill explain the decision went against the Education Department’s decision to cut funding for those programs, under the Teacher Quality Partnership and Supporting Effective Educator Development, that have encouraged the leftist “diversity, equity and inclusion” agenda points.

Those emphasize special recognition for minorities and quotas, as well as equal outcomes not based on ability or expertise.

The ruling said the department cannot cut funding for those programs based on their DEI agendas.

The Hill reported, “in February 2025, the department moved to slash around $600 million in grants it didn’t like under the Teacher Quality Partnership and Supporting Effective Educator Development grant programs. ”

Kelley said the directive failed to explain the switch.

“Rather than confining the Directive to actions that are traditionally understood to constitute discrimination, the record instead reflects that Defendants terminated grants with topics such as ‘acknowledging … racism’ and ‘anti-racism’—activities expressly undertaken to oppose discrimination,” Kelley complained.

She also objected to the impact it would have on teacher preparation.
