The legacy media have now resorted to groveling to get back in the good graces of President Donald Trump.
On Sunday, CNN anchor Jake Tapper begged Mike Waltz, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, to ask the commander in chief to let the Cable News Network resume its press pool coverage aboard Air Force One.
“Sir, I just want to note,” Tapper began on “State of the Union,” “yesterday the White House barred CNN from fulfilling our pool assignment on behalf of the five major television networks.”
“I would just ask if you could please convey to President Trump to let CNN back in the pool. It was not OK when President Obama tried to freeze Fox out of the pool back in 2009. And I don’t think we want a world where presidents decide who gets to cover them.”
Waltz was unmoved by the plea, saying: “I hear you, Jake, but I think we need fair and objective and well-sourced reporting. And I can tell you, as having been the victim of a lot of this nonsense, my family members and so many others, we need a free and fair and honest press corps without an agenda that tries to take facts to fit a narrative – and whether that is [Joe] Biden’s inability and many issues that he had that [were] whitewashed and then people came back around with corrections or other issues.”
“President Trump’s frustrated,” Waltz added. “By the way, there are over, what? Fifty seats in the press room? I don’t think all of them, like Washington Post or New York Times, are exactly positive towards this administration. That’s a false narrative that it’s about negative reporting. We need fair and objective reporting for the country, and that’s President Trump’s point.”

Earlier Sunday, as WorldNetDaily reported, ABC’s Martha Raddatz pressed U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche for “one example” where the press had not reported something accurately from the White House.
Blanche was incredulous, saying: “I’m sorry, wait, give you an example of when CNN doesn’t report accurately? You cannot be asking me that.

“They don’t even disagree. There’s not even a real dispute that the information coming out of CNN and some of these other networks is wholly and completely almost – almost 100% – negative toward the president.”
Online commenters had little sympathy for CNN, saying:
“Tapper groveling to Waltz to ask Trump to let them back in the White House is embarrassing for him but comedy for us.”
“They need their ‘come to Jesus’ moment if you will if they want back in. Go on air and come clean on all of the news events you have misrepresented over the years followed by a heartfelt apology to America, your viewers and Donald Trump and all of the others you have wronged over the years with fake news. Start with all of the families who have had their family members raped, murdered or abused by illegal aliens whom you covered for while ignoring the victims.”
“Maybe refer to your own book Jake Tapper when you wonder why your credentials have been pulled.”
