Conservative Actor Tim Allen’s Show Canceled Despite High Ratings

A petition demanding ABC return their hit sitcom ‘Last Man Standing’ to the lineup is nearing the required amount of signatures to be sent to the network…

Last week, ABC announced that it would be canceling Tim Allen’s show — Last Man Standing –despite high ratings. Last Man Standing is recognized as being the most prominent show on prime time that depicts conservative views, and the abrupt end to the show comes as a surprise to many fans. In fact, it reportedly came as a shock to Tim Allen himself. Famous for being outspoken on his real-life conservative views, Allen hasn’t had any qualms about expressing how difficult it can be working in Hollywood as a non-liberal. Although I’ve never seen the show, I read that it has tackled quite a few conservative issues, and according to reports, the show continues to bring in good ratings.

Many fans of the show are accusing ABC of canceling the conservative show for political reasons. In response to the backlash received from this announcement, ABC has said the decision to cancel wasn’t political in nature. They’ve apparently decided to switch up their Friday lineup and incorporate science fiction into the mix. So, it’s simply their new super hero programming that has evicted Last Man Standing.

A petition from change.org calling on ABC to keep Last Man Standing in their lineup has received over 130,000 signatures. Once it has reached 150,000 signatures, it will be delivered to ABC. The petition states that politics is secondary to what makes the show good. The interactions that are portrayed on the show between those with diverse views sets a good example of love and family. Tuning in to see these interactions is a breath of fresh air to most, especially to those who feel like liberal agendas are forced down their throats when they attempt to enjoy television.

According to the petition, the show, where Allen portrays a character with Christian values and beliefs that go against mainstream Hollywood, is in a class of its own where values and morals are concerned. There isn’t much television programming that caters to audiences who don’t have a liberal agenda nowadays, and many viewers of Last Man Standing have said it’s the only show on television they can relate to in terms of wholesome entertainment.

Personally, I miss the days where sitcoms dominated Friday nights. I would rather watch a decent comedy show than half of the weird stuff that appears on television these days. Although ABC has denied that the changes are politically motivated, it doesn’t take a genius from one of their science fiction shows to put two and two together. The reasons that ABC is trying to use are frail and wholly unbelievable. I’ve even seen a random article of reasons why the show could have possibly been canceled trying to explain away the fact that this move looks good on ABC’s part.

I’m sure someone in the pecking order felt the pressure to get rid of these dangerous conservative folks. The observation that this was actually done for political reasons is glaringly obvious, especially since these large networks usually know when big moves are going to be made way in advance, such as canceling a top-rated show.  In any case, Tim Allen’s show has met the chopping block and it looks pretty shady.
