9 of Spades| Project K-9 Hero

Sergeant Yeager.

You only need to take five minutes out of your life and read the story about Sergeant Yeager, a working dog who was critically injured in Afghanistan—a blast that took the life of his handler, Lance Cpl. Abraham Tarwoe—to realize supporting these unsung heroes is essential. It was former U.S. Army soldier Jason Johnson who made it his life’s purpose, founding Project K-9 Hero in 2016. The vision of this national charity is to ensure the best quality of life for our nation’s retired military working dogs and Police K-9 heroes by providing assistance with medical costs, food, and end-of-duty services.

Jason knew firsthand the life-changing, selfless service these working dogs have provided, having served himself alongside them in the military, as a law enforcement officer, and with various U.S. government agencies for more than two decades. He has performed countless high-risk missions, stateside and abroad. Furthermore, he understood the costs and care needed for these extraordinary animals, and that there were no public funds to help. Jason’s passion and mission resonates, as the momentum of his work is catching on, raising awareness and educating the public. In fact, NASCAR fans recently saw the Project K-9 Hero logo featured on Jeffrey Earnhardt’s hood this past summer.
