L.A. City Council Goes Full Fascist on the NRA and its Members

By: - February 18, 2019

Okay, most often, the cops will not get there in time to save you; they will get there in time to investigate the crime. That’s just the way it is. It’s simple math: there are about 900,000 cops for some 330 million people.

This police-response reality is especially true in rural areas but also increasingly true in leftist-run suburban and urban communities where many cops are bolting from law enforcement agencies where leftist city councils and mayors detest them. As the hemorrhaging of officers continues, and as it gets more difficult for agencies in leftist jurisdictions to attract officers, the response times will only grow longer. People have to depend on themselves for self-defense.

Yet, the left continues its campaign to abridge Americans’ God-given right to self-defense. Yes, when you take away the most effective means of defending your loved ones and yourself, you effectively take away a person’s right to self-defense. It’s like declaring people have a right to write but then outlawing the most efficient devices (pens, pencils, computers, etc.) people use for writing.

We know the left hates the Second Amendment and gun owners. In fact, they hate them so much, their extremist drive toward gun control is reaching new heights. The Los Angeles City Council just voted 14-0 to require contractors doing business with the city to disclose any ties to the NRA. (Obviously, so they can exclude companies with NRA ties from obtaining city contracts, even though the city council argues this is not a “ban” of the NRA, in hiring. What else, then?) This has got to be one of the most fascistic attacks on the Second Amendment.

Even more abhorrent, this government persecution is being perpetrated against one of the oldest civil rights organizations in the nation. The NRA, founded in 1871, is a true civil rights organization that has remained dedicated to its mission of protecting gun rights for all people. Unlike the formerly esteemed civil rights institutions such as the ACLU and NAACP, who support civil rights—but primarily for leftists.

While some businesses have also taken anti-NRA stances, such as Delta Airlines and Bank of America, and though still a fascistic tactic, they are private companies. Last I checked, the L.A. City Council is a government entity whose members swear oaths to uphold the laws of the city, state, and the nation. This includes the U.S. Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, which includes the Second Amendment.

Whether the left likes it or not, the rights provided under the Second Amendment are the law of the land. And when they infringe on those rights, either by the letter or spirit of a law, they spit on their oaths.

Isn’t it astonishing that in modern America a major political party, comprising Democrats, Socialists, and socialists masquerading as Democrats, picks the laws it’ll follow and those it won’t? Officials in this party even pass state and local laws that blatantly infringe on a constitutional right. The Democrats do this despite there being legal and political mechanisms to alter or abolish laws the people don’t like. Instead, the Dems, such as the L.A. City Council, find ignoring laws, such as the Second Amendment, to be the easier political path to trod than playing by the rules. And they do this even though they all recited oaths to uphold all duly passed local, state, and federal laws.
