Brad Parscale, President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager who was replaced by the president earlier this year, is reported to have barricaded himself in his home with a gun and threatened to harm himself Sunday afternoon, Local10.com reported.
Fort Lauderdale police did not confirm to the station that Parscale was the person who was barricaded, but the news organization said the property at the address listed did belong to him and his wife.
Police said the armed man was taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Parscale’s wife called police after she said her husband was armed and was threatening to commit suicide.
Police said in a statement that responding officers “developed a rapport” with the subject and was able to convince him to come outside.
Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Karen Dietrich said, “We went out and it was very short. We went and got him help.”
She added that Parscale did not threaten the police officers at the scene and that he willingly went to the hospital.
Trump’s campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said in a statement, “Brad Parscale is a member of our family and we all love him. We are ready to support him and his family in any way possible. The disgusting, personal attacks from Democrats and disgruntled RINOs have gone too far, and they should be ashamed of themselves for what they’ve done to this man and his family.”
Parscale, 44, served as Trump’s reelection campaign director starting in February 2018 until he was demoted to the role of an adviser in July.
