Trey ‘The Bulldog’ Gowdy Brings Intelligence to Intel Committee

By Stephen Owsinski:

With rampant concerns surrounding our nation’s 17 federal intelligence-gathering agencies, allegations of Russia tampering with the American elections system, the curious interplay of the FBI, and the explosion of the Hillary Clinton email scandal, a savior of sorts has landed in the seat of reason and fact-finding. Everyone’s favorite Republican Congressman from South Carolina, Trey “The Bulldog” Gowdy, has filled another crucial government seat with the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).

As intelligence-based commenties persistently sail across media outlets, and as various entities seem dodgy about who said what to whom and when, a fact-patterned legislator on the trail of perceived wrongdoing has appeared in the form of Representative Trey Gowdy. As was analyzed here on OpsLens, POTUS Donald Trump neither chose Mr. Gowdy as his US Attorney General, nor has he bestowed on him a US Supreme Court nomination. But we are just as honored to have him among this committee in an effort to sift through the sensitive subject matter placed before the legislative body and get to the heart of issues relevant to our national security. This position is yet another rung on the ladder, in my opinion.

Anyone subpoenaed to testify before the committee will have nothing to fret about if telling the whole truth. However, others who hope to game the committee, skirting inquiry and distorting the truth, will be justly placed in the crosshairs, with Mr. Gowdy skillfully wielding the fact-checking instruments. And he is one hell of a prosecutor, albeit in a political seat.

If ever there were a sensei of threading truth together, Congressman Gowdy is it. Those who hide the facts and shy away from direct inquiry find themselves on the losing end of Mr. Gowdy’s depth of intellect and his prowess in analysis and assessment.

On learning that he was granted a seat on the HPSCI, Congressman Gowdy wrote on Twitter:

“Protecting the safety and security of our fellow citizens is the preeminent function of government. When it comes to our national security we cannot afford to take risks. The House Intelligence Committee plays a vital role in protecting Americans both at home and abroad through conducting thorough oversight of our nation’s intelligence agencies. I look forward to joining the House Intelligence Committee and working with Chairman Nunes and my colleagues to ensure national security remains the top priority in the 115th Congress.”

In addition to this newest assignment, Gowdy also holds honors in the House Judiciary Committee, the Committee on Ethics, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and the Select Committee on Benghazi. No matter what is said by any member on any committee, Gowdy has an intriguing slant and a unique line of inquiry to baffle the greatest minds and bag the best cons. His oft-stated introspective status role is that he is more of a prosecutor than a politician. In any realm, he altruistically embraces the icon of Lady Justice and the constitutional principles she symbolizes, blindfold and all.

A Principled Patriot

The Benghazi debacle was met head-on by Gowdy and the Select Committee on Benghazi. Although some believe the committee didn’t possess enough pinch to burst Hillary Clinton’s bubble, it did paint a clear picture of who she is and how she operates. Behind her smug expressions and her elbow-propped head full of bizarre pathology, Mrs. Clinton sparred with Congressman Gowdy and company. At one point she gestured to her wristwatch as if to suggest Gowdy and the committee was wasting time; a miasma of arrogance emanated from where she sat.

Unmoved and unrelenting, Congressman Gowdy pressed on and even rebuked committee Democrats who tried to suppress his line of inquiry and throw curveballs his way. Mrs. Clinton remains unindicted (thus far). With sagged shoulders, for the second time in her political life, she wistfully walked away without the US presidency. Some say she paid enough. Others say that prosecution is imminent. On a recent Fox News broadcast with Lou Dobbs, Judge Andrew Napolitano defined what the judge called “the smoking gun” against Hillary Clinton, emphasizing the latest batch of 301 emails released by the FBI. The judge also painted FBI Director James Comey in an unfavorable light. The snowglobe is again turned upside down, and pieces are afloat for the moment. Settlement is long overdue and necessary!

I know that four American patriots perished in Benghazi. I also know Mrs. Clinton is rather silent after washing and rinsing that responsibility from her hands.

Institutional Intensity

As an institution in which affairs of state are intense at times, the controlled measures Congressman Gowdy demonstrates in the chambers of every committee on which he serves are certainly reassuring to Americans. Other than Hillary Clinton’s skeletons, who doesn’t want a modern-day gladiator in the ring of truth-seeking missions?

I never tire of watching Trey Gowdy’s engagements with those he perceives as liars. I always feel confident in government while listening to his compelling speaking skills. Observe his intensity while he is either speaking or listening— you will be enveloped by a warrior standing up for what is right, just, and constitutionally attributable. He doesn’t just go for the jugular, he is the jugular, pulsing with constitutional conviction and fidelity for the rule of law.

As the 115th Congress was sworn in days ago, Representative Paul Ryan had the privilege of meeting the gaze of Congressman Trey Gowdy—the same intense gaze depicted atop this article—and earmarked his fourth term as a South Carolina elected official. One can imagine the pride among Mr. Gowdy’s constituents. In a string of coveted seats, “The Bulldog” is safeguarding the House of Representatives and bringing his brand of intellect and depth of jurisprudence to the Intelligence Committee.

Bolstering his recent re-election campaign, Congressman Gowdy ran with burning torches to champion national security, immigration, and government reform, but roughly nine months ago, rumors were afloat that Congressman Gowdy was pondering retirement. Everyone ponders retirement, butI think one more rung on the ladder he’s been climbing would place Mr. Gowdy at its pinnacle…
