What do ISIS, Al Qaeda, and the Proud Boys Have in Common?

By: - February 11, 2021

According to Canada, ISIS and Al Qaeda have a new colleague in the Proud Boys. The once-obscure organization has now been labeled as terrorists in the Maple Leaf country.

“Stand back and stand by.”

Until a visibly annoyed President Trump uttered those words in what seemed to be the millionth demand for him to denounce white supremacy, odds are you never heard of the Proud Boys. That changed when debate moderator Chris Wallace successfully led President Trump into an artfully-baited trap. Trump, riled up and on the defensive, repeatedly reminded Wallace that he had already denounced white supremacy several times, and that Antifa was a major issue. In a moment of supreme annoyance, Trump repeated the name of a militia that Wallace fed him, and instead of saying “Stand down,” as Wallace insisted, Trump said “Stand back and stand by.”

Within minutes, social media lit up with outraged keyboard warriors mimicking their media prophets. Those words, the Left wailed, were a call to action.

No one paid any attention to the fact that President Trump immediately followed up with an explanation- again- that of course he denounces white supremacy. Never mind that in the days that followed he and his administration repeated the condemnation of violence and white supremacy. Those five words were played over and over again, and spun into a web of propaganda for the Democrats to capture and suck the blood out of common sense, just like they’ve been doing from the moment Trump announced his candidacy.

The Proud Boys were launched from obscurity to notoriety faster than Pelosi ripped up the State of the Union address. “Speaking of violence,” Pelosi huffed, “the Proud Boys, the president’s friends, you know, the Proud Boys who are celebrating the green light that he gave them in the debate.”

With that command from the Queen, Pelosi’s loyal subjects picked up the battle cry. The Proud Boys became a household name. In the wake of the January 6th Capitol incident, the Proud Boys are at the top of the list of those being blamed for the “insurrection.”

While the Biden Administration has not yet made an official move against it, the government of Canada just announced it has designated the Proud Boys as a terrorist organization.

The designation places The Proud Boys in the same category as ISIS and Al Qaeda, among others. It means its assets will be seized and it is a crime to facilitate or consort with any members in any way. Known members may be denied entry into the country.

Bill Blair, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, issued the following statement:

“Violent acts of terrorism have no place in Canadian society or abroad. Today’s additions to the Criminal Code list of terrorist entities are an important step in our effort to combat violent extremism in all forms. Canadians expect their government to keep them safe and to keep pace with evolving threats and global trends, such as the growing threat of ideologically motivated violent extremism. The Government of Canada will continue to take appropriate actions to counter terrorist threats to Canada, its citizens and its interests around the world.”

No rational person has a problem with a government protecting its citizens from terrorists. But do the Proud Boys really meet the same threshold of evil that ISIS and Al Qaeda do?

While ISIS and Al Qaeda are known for beheadings and other forms of extreme violence, Proud Boys members are initiated into the group with an oath declaring they are “a proud Western chauvinist” and refuse to apologize for “creating the modern world.” The bylaws also state that new members are barred from masturbating more than once a month. How that particular rule is enforced is unclear.

Former Proud Boys member Russell Schultz describes members of the organization as men who have few friends, don’t know how to talk to a girl, and enjoy the new camaraderie their membership provides. Initiation also includes reciting the names of cereal breakfasts while other members playfully punch them, says Schultz.

Sounds terrifying, doesn’t it?

The Proud Boys do post violent messages threatening to harm or kill Antifa members. Schultz posted several himself. Antifa, says Schultz, is what galvanized the organization to evolve from barroom buddies into self-pronounced protectors of patriotism. As President Trump’s term grew more controversial, and Antifa began attacking innocent people, the Proud Boys stepped into their calling.

The media and the Democrats (that’s redundant isn’t it?) celebrated Antifa’s criminal actions- Kamala even bailed them out of jail – while denouncing the Proud Boys. Republicans and any common sense American denounced all the violence, but only the Proud Boys were swept to the top of the Public Enemy list.

Now the organization is officially known as terrorists in the land its founder hails from.

President Biden did not earn any good will from Canada by killing the Keystone pipeline. Will he earn some back with a show of solidarity that would also strike glee into Blue hearts? Will the Proud Boys soon be classified as terrorists in America, too?
