ABC News Releases Internal Trump Campaign Poll Data: Results Not Good for President Trump

By: - June 15, 2019

ABC News claims that they have gotten hold of an internal reelection campaign poll that shows President Donald Trump behind Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden in several key battleground states. Trump has repeatedly denied that such polling data even exists.

It’s not hard to understand why President Trump would want the information suppressed. The poll shows Biden in the lead in Pennsylvania, besting Trump 55-39 percent. Meanwhile, in Wisconsin, Trump is behind by seven points. In Texas, Trump maintains only a two-point lead, which is likely within the margin of error.

Now, the Trump campaign has acknowledged that the data is real. However, the campaign claims that the data is old and that things have since swung in favor of President Trump. In a statement, the campaign claimed:

“These leaked numbers are ancient, in campaign terms, from months-old polling that began in March before two major events had occurred: the release of the summary of the Mueller report exonerating the President, and the beginning of the Democrat candidates defining themselves with their far-left policy message.”

While former Vice President Joe Biden is often viewed as a moderate, he has since moved a bit further to the left, trying to increase his appeal among the Democrats’ active progressive wing. According to most polls, Biden remains the Democratic primary frontrunner. However, polls show that Senator Bernie Sanders maintains a large, loyal following. Senator Elizabeth Warren has also built up a lot of momentum, leveraging detailed, progressive policies to draw in support.

Polling data is not available for other candidates, although it’s possible that the Trump campaign has such data.
