Like much of the country, I hadn’t really heard of groups like “Antifa” prior to President Trump taking office. Now one can assume that if there’s a riot or scuffle in the streets over politics, Antifa has a hand in it somehow. Antifa protestors often wear all-black clothing and masks to conceal their identities.
Of course, the word “protestors” might be sugar-coating the actions often associated with members of Antifa. In fact, Antifa activists widely believe that violence is necessary in order to combat opposing politics and beliefs. By Any Means Necessary is one such group who found themselves in headlines recently when their fearless leader—Yvette Felarca—conducted some shady dealings.
Felarca is a middle school teacher and activist in Berkeley. She participates in riots and likes to spend her free time doing what she can to shut down conservative speakers at UC Berkeley. She was front and center for the meltdowns over Ben Shapiro and Milo Yiannopoulos that erupted into chaos and violence.
This group has shown they will damage and set ablaze their own cities to create an atmosphere dangerous for their fellow residents just to stop someone from speaking.
Yvette Felarca has also just been ordered to pay $11,100 to Troy Worden—the former head of the Berkeley College Republicans—for court and attorney’s fees after her failed attempt at securing a permanent restraining order against Worden. Felarca claimed that Worden was stalking and harassing her because of her political dealings on campus. She was initially granted a temporary restraining order but withdrew her application for a permanent order the day of the hearing. As such, Worden was granted the lawyer and court fees to which he was entitled. Of course Yvette Felarca’s attorney vowed to appeal, saying that the ruling sets a dangerous precedent for women who are seeking help from abusers.
Felarca is clearly out of her entire mind. It’s absolutely appalling that there are real victims of abuse who need such protection and Felarca decided to clog up the court system filing bad faith restraining orders over political views. Considering that she withdrew her application for a permanent restraining order on the day of the hearing, it’s logical to assume that she didn’t feel like she was in danger.
Naturally, her lawyer is arguing that the judge is biased because he agrees with Worden’s political views.
Also, I don’t understand how one single conservative student would pose a threat to a woman who surrounds herself with violent protesters pushing their narrative “by any means necessary.” Hiding behind the “battered woman” factor is completely disgusting and takes away any credibility Felarca might have had if she didn’t withdraw her application.
A judge had also previously changed the order to allow Worden to remain 10ft from Felarca instead of 100ft. Naturally, her lawyer is arguing that the judge is biased because he agrees with Worden’s political views.
Antifa has been working hard to silence any dissenting opinions from being presented at Berkeley since President Trump was elected. Filing bogus restraining orders against opposing parties is a new low, even for Antifa. I can’t say I’m all that surprised, though. This group has shown they will damage and set ablaze their own cities to create an atmosphere dangerous for their fellow residents just to stop someone from speaking.
