Twelve people are dead, including one suspect, in a mass shooting Sunday at Hanukkah celebration at a popular tourist beach in Sydney, Australia.

The shooting, which has already been declared terrorist attack by officials, took place on the first day of the holiday at Bondi Beach, on the eastern side of New South Wales, with more than 1,000 people in attendance. At least two dozen are injured.

It is the worst attack on the Jewish community since Oct. 7, 2023. One attacker is dead and the other is in police custody.

Tanya Cohen witnessed the bloody horror, telling Fox News: “As soon as I arrived, we heard pop pop pop pop pop. We at first thought it was fireworks so we did not react. People around us did not react.

“And then the popping did not stop. It was continuous. And then people started to panic and we started to see hundreds of people running, not sure where the sound was coming from.

“When it did not stop, we all then realized it was active shooter and pandemonium broke out. And hundreds of people were running across a busy road, where cars were still moving, towards safety [at] the restaurants nearby.

“People were jumping under the tables and jumping to get shelter. And this shooting seemed to go on for I would say around eight or nine minutes. It did not stop and it was continuous.”

“This was a targeted terrorist attack on the Jewish community of Sydney at Hanukkah festival where over a thousand people were gathered to celebrate a Jewish holiday, the Festival of Lights. There were children there, there were babies there, there were families there and there were rabbis there, one of which is now deceased.”

Cohen added: “My brother was volunteering and doing security and he joined in to help resuscitate victims and is actually still on the scene helping out authorities with the efforts to ensure people’s safety on the ground.”

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese gave a televised address, calling the Bondi Beach shooting “an act of evil anti-Semitism, terrorism that has struck the heart of our nation.”

“We have seen Australians today run towards dangers in order to help others. These Australians are heroes and their bravery has saved lives.”

Chris Minns, the premier of New South Wales, said: “Our heart bleeds for Australia’s Jewish community tonight.

“I can only imagine the pain that they’re feeling right now to see their loved ones killed as they celebrate this ancient holiday.”

BBC News reports: “Premier Minns also paid tribute to a man filmed wrestling a gun from one of the attackers.

“That man is a genuine hero, and I’ve got no doubt there are many, many people alive tonight as a result of his bravery,” Minns said at a press conference.

In the video, the man is seen sneaking up on the attacker, before grabbing him in a bear hug.

The now-disarmed man then retreats back towards the bridge, where the other attacker is still firing from.

As the video continues, another man appears to be injured and flees the scene, as a policeman arrives behind the attackers and opens fire at them.

A separate video, also verified, shows several policemen on the same bridge. One appears to be administering CPR to a motionless man as someone shouts “he’s dead, he’s dead.”

Is the news we hear every day actually broadcasting messages from God? The answer is an absolute yes! Find out how!
